Is there a way to not lose access to your magic items while wildshaped?

The simplest solution is just to take off all your gear, wild shape, and then put it back on again (possibly with help, depending on the form). Most forms can wear rings and an amulet, probably a belt, maybe more... it will depend on the DM. This doesn't work so well in the middle of combat...

AC 56 at level 6! You too can do it!

Heh, true. I always forget about the multiclassing penalties when playing with hypothetical builds. Elf is almost as good, though (1 less AC), and has no issues with the multiclassing. Or you can go straight wizard and just buy a monk's belt a little later on.

AC 56 at level 6! You too can do it!

One thing to note is that you can still use most of that build in something that I'd consider easy. Take a halfling monk 1 / wizard 5, no items or feats needed, and the rest is just spell selection. You'd lose 12 AC by going with a troglodyte instead of a dwarf ancestor, 1 for the lower caster...

    Options for arcane healing spells?

I agree with earlier posters that Arcane Disciple is the easiest path. If you want to avoid that for some reason, though, I think the best actual Sor/Wiz healing spell is Healing Touch from Spell Compendium. It heals the target for 1d6 per 2 levels and then deals half that amount in damage to...

Forcecage + Dimensional lock = screwed?

For Contingency, "The spell to be brought into effect by the contingency must be one that affects your person". For area spells, I generally interpret that to mean that it has to be centered on the caster, which is awkward for Cloudkill. Timestop would certainly work, but the first thing I...

    Evard's black tentacles help

If a creature in the area can't ever beat the grapple check, then it's pretty screwed. However, there are a couple non-obvious things about the spell that make it somewhat less nasty. First, per the FAQ, the tentacles never try to re-grapple anyone. If you beat the grapple check initially or...

    Surviving after getting disjoined

Ugh, that makes it tougher. Assuming he sets up indigo and violet veils, there's really nothing that will touch him except melee attacks (or touch spells) that reach through the veils, and you'd have to make tough will saves every time you reach through. There's also not much point in trying...

    Epic Fighter question: engaging mooks

Actually, one rank of tumble should do it. Tumble at full speed straight through them. You'll fail all your tumble checks, so they'll all get attacks of opportunity, but for 4HD guys vs. a level 30 fighter, they should only hit on 20s and not do meaningful damage. The only constraint is that...

    Pricing a ring of gravestrike

That's exactly what I said -- a wand of extended grave strike. It would only allow attacks every other round, but you'd get it for your AoO's every round, and you can move on the same round you use the wand to reposition for a full attack. For a rogue with 2 attacks per round and Opportunist...

    New FAQ 23/11/06 [Merged]

Another way to look at it is that it's clearly no more powerful for a cleric than taking one level of monk (or even getting one level of monk abilities via gestalt). So it's not really opening up any new possibilities -- it's just letting you do so without taking a hit to caster level. Which...

    Pricing a ring of gravestrike

One option that's completely within the rules would be a wand of extended gravestrike for 4500gp. It takes a standard action to activate, and then the rogue can sneak attack on the following round, plus he can get sneak attack damage on his AoOs for two rounds (which can be significant with...

    Contingency?

It works well with buff spells in general. I find the easiest way to key it is "cast spell X if I speak the word Y". Then you can get greater invisibility, polymorph, etc. as a free action, even out of turn (since you can speak out of turn). Then just recast contingency after each fight (that...

Best Arcane spells for a Cleric via Anyspell?

It would depend a lot on what you and your party need. If you already have a wizard in the party, then you could use it for self-only spells that the wizard can't cast on you (e.g. see invisibility or alter self) or for spells you might want to cast a lot of very quickly (e.g. buffs like...

Rogue survival in the land of the unliving. Looking for advice...

If you can afford to put even more of a burden on this guy's spells, you could have him cast imbue with spell ability and grant your rogue 2x grave strike + (if possible) extended grave strike. That would give you 4 rounds of being able to sneak attack undead, which is pretty significant if...

    Balance fixes for polymorph/etc.

This is a set of revised versions of the form-changing effects in D&D: alter self, polymorph, alternate form, etc. In our games, form-changing effects have repeatedly required house rules to restore some semblance of balance, and this is an attempt at a global, consistent, simple fix. Rather...

    Good link for reference material?

d20srd.org is my preferred site for SRD stuff, and it includes psionics, but no legal site will have the table for starting gold. WotC intentionally left the character creation rules out of the SRD so that no one can publish a complete d20-based game without licensing from them.

Spire of Long Shadows Spoilers - Tanglefoot+Silence and WoStone Beatdown

Sounds pretty rough, but if you have to go back in... You have a 14th-level cleric and no other high-level casters, right? The cleric could cast planar ally and request a trumpet archon -- you normally don't get to pick the creature type, but if your DM is feeling conciliatory, it could work...

powerful new feats from Complete Mage

There are a couple feats that stood out to me in Complete Mage as being extremely powerful -- one for wizards and one for sorcerers. Wizards get Alacritous Cogitation. Once/day, you can spontaneously cast any spell you know from an open (unprepared) spell slot. The feat also has the poor...

    Really permament?

True. I'll revise that to "more vulnerable than I already thought it was." :)

    Really permament?

I think that if you follow this line of reasoning, an antimagic field will kill all spells made permanent via permanency. In an antimagic field, permanency is suppressed (meaning the other spell reverts to its original duration). Time spent in an antimagic field counts against a spell's...
