    D&D 5E (2014) Players: Why Do You Want to Roll a d20?

because in some player's minds it removes the decision from the arbitrary whims of the GM and frames it into perspective. You roll a 20 or a 1 and it will "force" the GM into an answer that gets confirmed. its also "forces" the GM during any begging and pleading when the players want to do...

Pathfinder 2E TRAILseeker: New Skill Uses!

I like what I see in there but are these all untrained uses? In the PF2 rules they list if a skill use requires training and if not its assumed untrained. Since none are listed as trained I just want to confirm that that is intentional.

WotC Frylock's Gaming & Geekery Challenges WotC's Copyright Claims

I'm not fully convinced he is is in the right. He makes the case of stat blocks and mythical creatures. He uses the cyclops from public domain as an example. And of using logic about the strengths and weaknesses of a cyclops for his selection of abilities in his stat block. Great and I agree...

Pathfinder Adventure Card Game Core Set: A Review

Agreed. It seems like the reviewer is spending more time giving caveats as to why they are not giving a proper reviewer then in actually talking about the game in the first place. "The actual gameplay is…fine, I guess?" They talked more about the packaging than the actual game itself.

    Your Opinion Matters

Ok so how many people have left a negative review and had it removed? Now how many people say they don't want to post a negative review because it might be removed and its just an excuse for not leaving a review at all?

News Digest: E3 News for Cyberpunk, Paranoia, and Baldur's Gate, Stargate RPG Announced, Free RPG Da

$50 for the wooden ship? No artwork. No coloring. Seems way overpriced but yeah I know, to each their own and I'm happy this is out there for those that want it they can buy it. I would have thought the picture with the ladder and the details would be what you'd get for $50. Then again I...

Would you rather we get more setting neutral content than adventures?

There is a crazy amount of good quality material out there. I think what people mean by "I want more setting material" they mean "I want more setting material from the old settings that I played in 2nd edition when I was a kid so I can get my nostalgia fix by reading new material and not just...

Hobby Games Down 3% But RPGs Up 18%

The important thing though is that he was affected enough to let us all know how unaffected he is.

Where Are All the Dungeon Masters?

Well a DM will put in hours every week mapping, planning, writing flavor text, story, appropriate monsters to fight, setting background and tying everything together. DMs don't get the enjoyment of learning a story as it unfolds. You have to keep track of all the enemies in combat, make...

RPG Evolution: Do We Still Need "Race" in D&D?

My apologies Morrus. I've edited out the comment and won't be posting in this thread apart from admitting I crossed the line.

RPG Evolution: Do We Still Need "Race" in D&D?

"The term "race" is a staple of fantasy that is now out of sync with modern usage" It was out of sync with the very first game Gygax played. Personally, I want my game different than a 1951 United Nations declaration. Of course it is out of parlance with reality. Setting aside 67 years of...

New Hobby Releases In Stores & PDF Spotlight: 29th January 2018

Ultraverse was a great line of comics that I really enjoyed. The cover picture doesn't have any of the iconic characters that one would expect if they got the rights to use the name.

Is D&D Too Focused on Combat?

Seems like a lot of people are confusing what they want out of RPing vs what the D&D ruleset focuses on. GMs and players can make whatever they want out of their game but if using D&D rules, and they want non combat situations and challenges, they have to put in a lot more extra work on their...

Goodman Games Latest News on Into The Borderlands

I am in the minority here but I think this sounds like a mess. 380 pages containing at 2 different printings of 1E and 3 sets of 1E monsters on top of 5ed conversion. Just give me the 5ed conversion so it isn't some crazy $50+ book.

RPG Crowdfunding News 060: Pathfinder Modern Adventures, Starfinder: Alien Bestiary, All For One Sat

I don't quite get the Adventure mats. They have a fabric surface so you cannot write on them. They are a very specific floorplan so have limited re-usability than say a generic modular encounter map (forest road or hilly region). The surface area is 1'x2'. There are already other options out...

I'm one of the silent members. Don't really comment in forums and just read over the site. I really like the front news page and get a lot of use out of it.

Question on Repulsion Armor from Adventurer's Vault

Sorry about all the editing problems guys. I copy and pasted the exact wording which cascaded down into a disaster coupled with my OCD for having font, color, and editing to match. I thought I had just deleted it all and cleaned it up :( My intention was definately not to make it hard to read...

Monsters with levels lower than PCs - useless?

I agree that it depends more on the monsters abilities vs the party's. I had a 6th lvl party almost get wiped out vs a horde of 3rd lvl monsters that had great terrain advantages and great combos of powers.

Question on Repulsion Armor from Adventurer's Vault

My group and I having a hard time figuring out just what this armor does. The daily power is a minor action to activate the armor and whenever an enemy moves into an adjacent square they get pushed back 1 square as an immediate reaction. That power lasts for the encounter. So if I read this...

(Mongoose) Quintessential Wizard & Apocalypse-Z - Out Now!

I picked up Quint Wizard last night and I am happy to say it carries on the solid quality that its 3.X version did. Magic items, powers, origins (the backgrounds from 3.X) TONS of paragon pathways and an NPC for each, rituals, some basic roleplaying ideas, and building wizard towers. Quite...
