    Our world, without people?

I've always thought this would be a fascinating setting for a world. Not that it hasn't been done. Planet of the Apes is one example. I've even thought of making a coffee table book about decay, that shows artists' interpretations of what the world would look like if we disappeared, stoping in...

(Trying Not To Start A Rant) The Other Side of the Christian/DnD Thing

I'll just add one more to the Christian gamer pile. I'm a churchgoer (though not as regularly since I moved to New York) and a former Sunday School teacher. There's nothing in the Bible that tells you not to play pretend. If there were, I'd be pretty dubious about the Bible.

Why are you looking forward (or not looking forward) to Eberron?

Thanks! I wish I could draw that photorealistically, but no. The images are all Photoshopped, even the warforged. But hey, photo-manipulation is still kind of an art, right? :)

Why are you looking forward (or not looking forward) to Eberron?

Hi! Just a quick link from your friendly neighborhood Eberron fanboy: http://www.coveworld.net/eberron/lore.html

Why are you looking forward (or not looking forward) to Eberron?

That's kind of how D&D works, isn't it? D&D didn't become the biggest name in roleplaying because it gave players the chance to play aasimar psions fighting beholders and rust monsters. It started by providing a world where you could fight orcs and trolls with elves and dwarves... then added the...

    The Cosmology of Eberron

In response to a much earlier comment: Stone Dog mentioned this already, but I'll add some flavor. Human civilization is relatively "new" in this campaign setting. Older civilizations (like goblins, hobgoblins, elves and giants) have been dealing with these places for a long time, and the...

Why are you looking forward (or not looking forward) to Eberron?

An Eberron booster weighs in What excites me about Eberron is that it hits the sweet spot between "generic campaign setting" and "wacky new world with filled cool ideas." You're missing the point if your reaction is: "so there are dinosaurs and magitech. I could have thought of that!" There's...

    The Cosmology of Eberron

I think they make a lot of sense. I can see how a standard D&D campaign would use descriptive, scientific names like "the negative energy plane," because they're not something broadly experienced. The people who know about them are specialists, and probably somewhat isolated from one another...

    The Cosmology of Eberron

I really enjoyed this update, and I'm glad Wizards decided to give us something that was more fluff than crunch. The backstory and interesting tidbits (hobgoblins and orcs were Eberron's defenders in millenia past, humans are a relatively new culture, psionics are linked to a dream plane) are...

    Sword and Sandals Campaign Settings?

I'll have to check some of these out. I once ran a game set in an alternate history Greece, which started off with the (apparent) murder of Zeus and used straight D&D rules, which fit surprisingly well with the setting. I may have to run some new adventures in that campaign sometime.

    Pathfinder 1E [Paizo] Dragon #317

What's the quickest way to get an issue of Dragon if you're not a subscriber and no bookstores in your area carry it? That was my immediate thought, too. My interest is most definitely piqued.

What is your favorite D&D Class and why?

I'm a high charisma, skill-based kind of guy, but I've never really liked the flavor of the bard or rogue. (Singing and sneak attacks aren't really my style.) Sorcerors are neat but I wish they had something more than Bluff. I really love the Swashbuckler from Complete Warrior (now a must-buy...

    Eberron - Extreme Explorer PrC

I agree that this is a pretty "generic" class, but is that inherently bad? I'd say it's more reflective of personality and disposition as opposed to "career," but you could say the same of the distinction between the fighter and the swashbuckler (a class I love, BTW). This isn't pretendign to...

    Eberron - Extreme Explorer PrC

Disclaimer: I like Eberron and I think the designer (Keith Baker) is a really talented guy. Read my biased responses below. If it's any comfort to you, this is the only PrC in the Eberron Campaign setting that's based on action points. And it seems pretty logical to me that if you're going to...

    D500 adventure ideas!

    245. The heroes' oldest enemy comes to them, claiming an earnest wish to reform. 246. The heroes find a lost city in the mountains where no one has ever heard a note of music.

    Klooge Werks and Online Play

Thanks for the mini-review. Anybody else? I'm particularly curious as to the fate of the company that makes the software.

A question on Lawful Good Kender

Hmmm... Try to focus on what could be "lawful" about a kender. In general, being lawful is about obeying rules. Like any society, kender have rules about how to treat each other. They just don't have a definition of property. It's not so much that they're disobeying a law, it's just that...

    Eberron Fan site

By the way, some quirk of the boards put my reply on top of Art's original post. I promise I wasn't pimping my own website. :)

    Eberron Fan site

I don't think so! "Jhonen Olain" here, and I'm glad to see so many people are checking out the site. I once mysteriously sold my soul for a lifetime of no-strings-attached awesome web space, so it's not often that the site goes down. When it does, it's usually back up in a flash. Coming one of...

    Eberron Cover Art

I love pretty much everything I know about the Eberron setting, but I don't like the cover. Would color be too much to ask? Not a big deal, of course, but it's not too late to make some tweaks...
