D&D 5E (2014) PHB is #3 right now on "Amazon's Hot New Releases"

He isn't the only one saying each edition has outsold the previous one. Dancey says that up to and including 4E, where 4E outsold 3E's initial sales based on pre-orders alone. It isn't that initial sales don't matter. Of course they do, because sales matter and you always want strong sales...

Hi all! I've updated the main thread with information on the upcoming Rage of Demons season! In particular: - The new information on the Expeditions city of Hillsfar. - The new info on bonds and backgrounds for Hillsfar. - The background for Rage of Demons - Dates and the like, as far as I know...

Sorry, which one? Living Divine seems to still be active, but I'm not sure where they are running adventures. Ashes of Athas has concluded, but you can PM me to receive a copy of the adventures.

i think it depends on the objective. Untiered/unscaled encounters in previous organized play campaigns were usually meant to cover "the PCs should know better than to mess with this... if they do, hit them with this and probably it's a TPK." With the Encounters adventures it is really more that...

AMA (Tuesday noon, April 28): Mike Selinker, your 2015 ENnie Awards host, ex-D&D creative director, and creator of the RPG/card game hybrid Apocrypha

Hi Mike, You have some awesome people at Lone Shark Games. That makes me want to see you all succeed, which in turn makes me wonder what success is... in an interesting industry. What kinds of measuring sticks and goals does your company set for itself? Is it something like number of games or...

What is the source of the image? I can't find anything on the roll20 blog. Can a link be posted to the source? Thanks!

Learn about D&D organized play options

I do not see any Backgrounds or other PC options in the pdf of the adventure for Encounters. It is possible the published adventure has options, or they may all be the ones in the new rules packet (custom races, new spells).

It isn't clear whether your store has been running Encounters, Expeditions, or a mix. But, in general, if you have an established group that really wants to play with the same PCs, and you have lots of new players, then those two should be split up. For new players you have two good choices: -...

I find pacing to be harder with some groups than others. I had a dad and son duo once... the dad would get on his kid, then take twice as long on his own turn... and it was level 1 4E! :-) On the subject of pacing, check out this article series by Shawn Merwin and Encoded Designs. The latest...

I am updating the main post for the latest information. The new info can be found here, in a new page announcing the new files supporting the Elemental Evil story arc! I'm also going to re-arrange the main page to hide older info. I want to preserve the history but not confuse a new player...

[UPDATED] Issues With Official D&D 5E Spell Cards?

I absolutely hear you. I've had some nightmares from companies. A prominent second-tier RPG company took months to resolve my special version book I ordered. But, I know that isn't at all normal for them. And that's what I'm really speaking to. The number of problems is really low. The vast...

[UPDATED] Issues With Official D&D 5E Spell Cards?

I'm going to disagree. Morrus wrote his post at 8:25 AM. The company responds by 4:43 PM the same day. They provide a sound response. While the company can improve (congratulations to anyone working for/with a perfect company, I haven't met one yet), I'm not sure what else we should really...

[UPDATED] Issues With Official D&D 5E Spell Cards?

GF9 has always provided me with great products. I've really been blown away by the quality of the maps, minis, and tokens. The spell cards aren't perfect, but I see tons of happy people merrily using them. We all want product to hit the shelves the moment it could, and that's clearly what they...

A clarification: You can run Expeditions at a store and through a store, but you can also get Expeditions adventures from WotC directly if you are running public games. They can be in any publicly accessible location (convention, library, coffee shop, etc.). If you want certificates, you must...
