D&D/Saga Edition: Additional Hitpoints at 1st Level...

Another factor for Star Wars that doesn't apply to typical D&D is that healing is much less common.

    speed gives and jump bonus?

So remember that boots of springing and striding actually add +9 to your Jump checks for most people: +5 for the magic of the boots and +4 for the increased move rate.

    Campaign Wiki

I'm another pbwiki user, and I'm only doing it for one campaign right now. However, I may do it for every campaign I start from here on out. There's a simple breakdown of the campaign word that expands as I work on it. Players can flesh out their character origins and I can look over them at my...

Dragon Shaman - any supplimental material?

In Dragon Magic: There are new draconic auras. There is a class feature to take invocations (as noted above) There are new draconic feats a Dragon Shaman might find useful.

Defending - Melee Weapon Special Ability

My point is the bonus has been named. It says it's an enhancement bonus. There's no reason to think it stops being an enhancement bonus. Therefore, even when the enhancement bonus is adding to AC rather than attacks and damage, the weapon still has an enhancement bonus and never loses hardness...

Defending - Melee Weapon Special Ability

Do you have an actual rule cite for that theory? We are told: A: Magic weapons have enhancement bonuses ranging from +1 to +5. B: They apply these bonuses to both attack and damage rolls when used in combat. Those are two separate sentences, and thus two separate thoughts. Is there any stated...

    Another word for 'Troll'

Thread necromancy or no, this is the kind of idea I love to kick around. Including some of the suggestions given here, I've used: Bergnag Fomor Gougun Grynde Haurg Huldren Jaetter Jotnar Kthur Tomte Tvergar Uerco Wendol Vaettir Vassen

    Feat for 12th level Paladin

I don't know for sure what LG allows, and the following suggestion is based on taking an unusual path, not the most powerful one. That said: I've had a lot of fun giving a pally Practiced Spellcaster. At 12th you have a caster level of 6, with PS it goes up to 10th. You then have to pick spells...

    Shape of RPG Industry

Unfortunately, if someone doesn't make the sale himself, he has to guess. And publishers are loathe to share their numbers. My perspective is always from the other end -- not what games are selling, but which lines are hiring. Since 2003, I've had fewer and fewer companies contact me about...

Upcoming Releases. What Are You Really Looking Forward To?

Ignoring anything I'm directly involved with: Complete Champion Not only is the subject matter sound great, but I can't wait to see what the authors (Ari, Gary and Ed in particular) have done. Dungeon Survival Guise. Chris and Bill. Dungeons. Nuff said. Exemplars of Evil/Elder Evils You have...

Interview with Scott Rouse, Chris Perkins & Bill Slavicsek

And, in fact, it's still happening. http://www.enworld.org/showpost.php?p=3484127&postcount=65 EDIT: And the moderators are very quickly reacting to it! Everyone is entitled to feel however they like, believe whatever they like and (within the rules of the forum) say whatever they like. But I...

Interview with Scott Rouse, Chris Perkins & Bill Slavicsek

When Wotc says it's going to include something or even suggest it's looking at including something in a product, and then doesn't include it, people get upset. Not "you killed my childhood" upset, but unhappy enough to talk about how WotC "lied" to them and suggest the product is not worthy...

What do I want? An apology.

I think saying you want an apology is a perfectly reasonable thing to do. It's sends a message about what you, as a customer, want. It's a specific request rather than a rant about damage done or vague declaration of dissatisfaction. It's in a forum there's some chance a WotC rep might read...

    How is Palladium doing?

Palladium has always provided me with what I need most, cool ideas, at price points and production qualities I found very satisfying. I have played in Palladium games I enjoyed greatly using their rules, homebrews based on their rules, HERO rules, and d20 rules. I often wonder if part of their...

Job Opening at WotC - Apply for Mike Mearls old job

Ari, All I can say is, I can't -imagine- you not loving the job. But, obviously, you need to decide what you want to do. You might see if Mearls would give you some idea what % of his time was raw mechanics, and what was writing things inspired by writers that had just the nugget of a cool idea.

Pathfinder 1E Paizo no longer publishing Dungeon and Dragon

Hey folks, While I stand by everything I said in my blog, that should in no way be taken to mean I don't respect this community, or even this thread. Do I think some people have gone overboard? sure do. And I specfiically mention in my post that it's their right to do so, for all the good it'll...

    Lame Names

Boba Fett. For French Canadian D&D. Gene-Eric Guy. Dieten and Diesix. In fact, those two lead me to write my first article for Pyramid magazine: What's in a Name?" On the other hand, I once had a minor NPC make succeed at every Dexterity-based thing he tried. Players started referring to him...

Job Opening at WotC - Apply for Mike Mearls old job

I'm really surprised by that, Ari. I suppose you must follow your muse, but I will say I think you;d do very well at that position. Of course, so would Eytan. Of course, so would I. Hmmmm... No, no. You're right. Don't apply.

What do you think of Dragonfire Adepts?

You mean has someone with the official authority to do so made it clear a dragonfire adept can't use metabreath feats? Not that I know of. Once I've written (co-written in this case) a WotC book, I no longer have any official power to make rules calls. All I can say is: 1. We weren't thinking...

What do you think of Dragonfire Adepts?

Although metabreath feats are illegal under the RAW, I will note I have allowed them on dragonfire Adepts in my home campaign without it being a problem. that said I haven't extensively playtested that option -- I'm just saying it's worked out so far with those I allowed.
