    D&D 5E (2014) I have the DMG!

Agreed and I might add Wizard and Paladin to that list as well. I couldn't imagine being a 10th level wizard with only 1-2 encounters a day. A fireball for you, a fireball for you, a fireball for everyone. Pretty much the same with the Paladin and smiting.

    D&D 5E (2014) I have the DMG!

I would say that is the issue, the game isn't balanced for 1 fight a day. I would think that if the DM is going to do that then they need to up the difficulty level because you are going to throw everything you have at it without having to worry more encounters later (or at most 2 in a day)...

    D&D 5E (2014) Uncanny Dodge (Rogue)

Actually "If there's ever any question whether something you're doing counts as an attack, the rule is simple. If you're making an attack roll, you're making an attack" doesn't necessarily mean what you want it to mean. Just because it states that doesn't meant that other things that don't...

    D&D 5E (2014) Uncanny Dodge (Rogue)

What? If there is no attack roll there can be no hit. So the Dragon's fire breath doesn't hit you or the wizard's disintegration spell doesn't hit you? I am not sure where I fall in this debate but the way you framed it doesn't make sense.

D&D 5E (2014) Low Level Wizards Really Do Suck in 5E

I generally agree with you but my point is more that everyone should play what they want to play. I have played in very unbalanced groups (4 wizards, 1 Paladin, and 1 fighter) and they can be just as much fun as playing in a balanced group. I think that people get too caught up on "don't step...

D&D 5E (2014) Low Level Wizards Really Do Suck in 5E

Mandated was a poor word choice on my part, I wouldn't want to be discouraged from playing the character that I wanted to play. What if I wouldn't enjoy playing a non-frontline warrior, should I then give up my enjoyment? I just think that generally most players should play the player they...

D&D 5E (2014) Low Level Wizards Really Do Suck in 5E

Well I think the problem might be your expectations, because of course they won't hold their own like a fighter (or even a rogue) as they won't have as many HPs or as good of an AC. That doesn't mean that they don't do as much damage it just means that they have less HPs and a lower AC.

D&D 5E (2014) Low Level Wizards Really Do Suck in 5E

I don't find cantrips that underpowered at low levels, especially since proficiency bonuses are the same across all the classes at the same level. Am I missing something, are they really that underpowered, as the wizard, and warlock in my group are doing pretty well at levels 1-3 with their...

D&D 5E (2014) Low Level Wizards Really Do Suck in 5E

While I probably wouldn't pick a front-line warrior in that case, I wouldn't want it mandated that I couldn't pick a front-line warrior either. I believe that it should still be my choice.

D&D 5E (2014) Rogue Warrior with an axe

I would argue that you can have that kind of control over a baseball bat if you are a professional (think a professional baseball player) and that is really what the PCs are professionals. Having said that you are right that the designers did not want it to be that way, but that doesn't mean...

D&D 5E (2014) Everyone Starts at First Level

Played that way in 1E and the beginning of 2E before changing to where the new PC started a few levels below the current PCs so if the Party was 15th level the new PC would probably start around 12th or so (depending on a few different things). The point I am trying to make is that by the...

D&D 5E (2014) Everyone Starts at First Level

How do you know how many hit points it has left? I would say that the magic missile would be a better spell to have as it automatically hits and will cause at least some damage without having to guess how many hit points the creature has left (unless your DM tells you that type of thing).

D&D 5E (2014) Everyone Starts at First Level

So you have to pull punches to keep them alive? Isn't that the point, that the only way to keep a 1st level PC alive with a much higher level party is to either keep the away from combat or the DM has to pull punches to make sure he stays alive (such as not having powerful spells or creatures...

D&D 5E (2014) Everyone Starts at First Level

That is nice but what about a first level character who gets caught in an AOE spell or a dragons breath, etc at 1st level when the other characters are a much higher level. Yes a 1st level character might still be able to hit but it will die significantly more quickly and if you are not taking...

D&D 5E (2014) Rcvd Monster Manual today from Amazon - Ink Smeared Pages (Gargoyle/Genie)

I have never returned a book but with the other things that I have exchanged from Amazon, they mail the replacement right away and you have something like a week to ship it back to them (it might even be 10 days) so you should be able to get the new one and then return your old one. Edit...

D&D 5E (2014) what is difference between Wizard, Sorcerer and Warlock?

So lets start at the basics, have you actually read the PHB? If not start there, if you have then be more specific about what you specifically want answered.
