D&D 5E (2014) Classic Products from the Last 17 Years

I have heard the same thing as well. I wish I could buy it on DTRPG separate from the Essentials DM Kit.

D&D 5E (2014) Your Biggest Gaming Pet Peeve

You joke but I have a player in my group that has played an Elf Ranger named Legolas since the 1980's. Needless to say we have stopped asking him what he is going to play when we roll up characters.

D&D 5E (2014) Wanting more content doesn't always equate to wanting tons of splat options so please stop.

Useless if you need exact numbers. I don't need exact numbers, Maxperson was saying that the average player buys multiple books per year, and it even the best case scenario under that is that there is about 1 PHB sold per 1.5 players (and it is possibly worse) and the PHB has the largest...

D&D 5E (2014) Wanting more content doesn't always equate to wanting tons of splat options so please stop.

Call it somewhat educated guess. The best numbers I can find is from 2000 or so saying about 1.5 million people play at least monthly. So range of 1-2 million gives it room to have shrunk some and to have grown possibly (5 million would be an extremely optimistic number). Have you seen a...

D&D 5E (2014) Wanting more content doesn't always equate to wanting tons of splat options so please stop.

You want general content. They don't plan on doing it (or at least don't plan on doing it yet, the big book of crunch will most likely be setting agnostic). Also that 1 general content book will directly compete with their setting specific material (especially since their "setting specific"...

D&D 5E (2014) Wanting more content doesn't always equate to wanting tons of splat options so please stop.

In response to this quote, how many people do you think play D&D 5E? 5 million? 2 million? 1 million? In two years, the by far most commonly needed book (the PHB) has probably sold 600-700K. Think about that. Not even 1 per player, and most likely more like 1 PHB sold per 3-5 D&D...

    D&D 5E (2014) Longswords

Huh? How does Dex beat Strength builds significantly at lower levels? Chainmail gives an AC of 16 St leather gives an AC of 12. Even with a Dex of 18 (unlikely at low levels) that makes them even at 16. A Dex of 16 is more likely so that would make the AC 15. So again how does the Dex...

D&D 5E (2014) Wanting more content doesn't always equate to wanting tons of splat options so please stop.

That isn't quite true. While yes 5E does put errata online it also puts it in new printings without calling it 5.5. So your logic doesn't really hold water.

D&D 5E (2014) Wanting more content doesn't always equate to wanting tons of splat options so please stop.

The Pathfinder Modules are now 64 pages (and have been for a few years). I have never played Pathfinder but I have bought a few of them to use with 5E (Ire of the Storm, Dragon's Demand, and Carrion Hill).

D&D 5E (2014) Wanting more content doesn't always equate to wanting tons of splat options so please stop.

I think it is to make the audience bigger for each release. If it was a purely mechanical options book, then it is more geared towards players if it is a purely setting release, it would be geared more towards DMs. By combining players options and setting in a single book (SCAG) they hope to...

    D&D 5E (2014) Campaign setting books?

I don't think that they are currently planning any setting books. It is possible that it could change in the future though.

D&D 5E (2014) Wanting more content doesn't always equate to wanting tons of splat options so please stop.

Why don't you go back and read it. I don't see him mentioning "general" releases. In fact he mentions wanting regional sourcebooks from other areas of the Realms. How would that count as general releases. I am not saying that he wouldn't like some general releases though. You put general...

D&D 5E (2014) Wanting more content doesn't always equate to wanting tons of splat options so please stop.

I think that you are twisting it. The original complaint was about lack of splat not lack of general splat. You have twisted it to mean "general" so that you can feel vindicated. There has been 1 splat a year, that splat just isn't what you want because you want "general" splat. You are...

D&D 5E (2014) Wanting more content doesn't always equate to wanting tons of splat options so please stop.

Again what you want. Why does it have to be a "general" release? Crunch works well across settings unlike fluff, so why the demand for "general"? The crunchy bits of SCAG are useable in most campaigns. Yes if you play in a very particular setting it might not work but the same could be said...
