Just because WoTC isn't putting out the product(s) you want doesn't mean that they are being mismanaged. The info that we have seems to say the opposite, that WoTC is being managed very well. A well run company can't be everything to everyone and blaming the "bean counters" without knowledge...

Another overpowered class with rolled scores is Bladesinger. I saw a mage/bladsinger with 18 int, 18 dex, and 16 of con at 1st level.

I would also add Paladin to that list as well (Str, Con and Cha).

I also think it depends on what you are paying for it. I don't think that it is worth $40 but I have seen it in the mid $20's previously on Amazon and at that price it is probably worth it (Currently it is in the low $30's on Amazon).

That is the difference between disadvantage and normal. I just went back and added the columns for advantage and advantage averaged 14 over 1000 rolls. So for the 1000 rolls average for each advantage: 14 Noraml: 10 Disadvantage: 7

While I would probably agree that it isn't crippling, the average difference over 1000 runs is 3 (well according to the quick excel sheet I set up), 10 vs 7. While a difference of 3 isn't crippling, it is significant and can drastically change the outcome.

Shouldn't the background that the player writes up include their background from the PH (or customer one)? In my group we do frequently use backgrounds for more than just mechanical purposes. In our group it flows both ways, sometimes the DM initiates the use and sometimes the players do.

This is easy 1. Put Kids to bed 2. Drink beer and get snacks ready 3. Come up with put-downs/jokes for my players such as "Yo mama so smelly that even trolls stay away" 4. Listen to my wife make fun of me for playing D&D.
