I'm going to be running an open table sandbox. I initially thought I'd have to hack 5e significantly to make that happen; after working on it a bit, I found that it actually works quite well within the rules.

I like that the MM has a picture of a halfling druid (346), and it's better than any halfling and/or druid art in the entire PHB.

This list of issues is very generous. The whole structure of the adventure (so far; we're on ep4) makes no sense: Fail to save the town and get one-shotted by a villain that leaves you alive for some reason. Some random guy tells you to go rescue some other random guy from the bandits' home...

HotDQ is bad in pretty much every way. MiBG is good in a lot of ways, but bad in the only way that really matters (the players wanting to play again after the first session).

I've made myself believe that Marilith clothing/armor is non-diegetic. Just like incidental music in a movie, it's not "really there" in the fictional world.

Didn't we just have this thread? I'd definitely appreciate any updates, and incorporate them into my game. I wouldn't re-buy the books, though.

Your analysis is spot-on, and this is why the adventure failed every time I tried to run it. My advice: don't bother. Run a good adventure instead.

I tried a few times, and it didn't really work. My advice: replace the stat blocks, then look at the XP value to see each encounter's difficulty. If it's too high or low, adjust as necessary. Interestingly, the only 1:1 conversion that worked perfectly was Ravenloft, but that was with old math.

Attacks have disadvantage because the attacker can't see the target. Technically, you could argue that attacks have advantage because the target can't see the attacker, so they cancel out, and it's a normal attack roll.

That's a really interesting and cool idea. If it works in your campaign, go for it! It seems like it would be useful for players who are completely new to RPGs, but I don't think it is needed if they're coming from other editions.

Fun things you can do with fabricate: Find a field of hemp plants, poppy flowers, etc. and become a drug lord Quickly and secretly equip an army Kill someone and transmute the corpse into a meat pie BRB, writing a campaign.

If not, you can download an app that runs in the background and prevents the screen from turning off.

Bad solution: Create an in-game solution to an out-of-game problem. Change your plans (create extra work for yourself) to accommodate That Guy. Good solution: Don't play with That Guy.
