D&D 5E (2024) DMG 2024: Is The Sandbox Campaign Dead?

I'm also not sure it's a style I'd recommend for a new DM.

D&D 5E (2024) DMG 2024: Is The Sandbox Campaign Dead?

Given sandbox style games are still very common in videogaming, I think there will always be people taking influence from that and trying to emulate the experience in TTRPG's. If a sandbox was your intended goal, there's still useful advice in the new DMG that would help someone run a game like...

Spoilers SW: Skeleton crew discussion thread

Loved the series. Talk about sticking the landing! I really liked KB rolling out of the crashed ship onto/with the pile of gold.

    D&D 5E (2014) Don't Throw 5e Away Because of Hasbro

Side note: I don’t think the length of a thread is really an indication of controversy. Sometimes it’s just a lot of discussion, and not always even on topic.

    D&D 5E (2014) Don't Throw 5e Away Because of Hasbro

It’s true, I’ll only have myself to blame if it does.

    D&D 5E (2014) Don't Throw 5e Away Because of Hasbro

Blurgate? lol What did Damon Albarn say/do this time? Can stop adding ‘gate’ to things and calling them scandals? It wasn’t Watergate-gate. I guess I should be happy no one started saying OGLgate.

    NOSFERATU - Spoilers

Apparently Anya Taylor-Joy was first choice for the Lily-Rose Depp role, but the filming clashed with Furiosa.

    NOSFERATU - Spoilers

It’s playing at the IMAX, which is tempting for a second viewing, except they’re only doing night screenings and I’m more a matinee guy. There was some odd laughter during my showing, Eggers does have a weird sense of humour (see: The Lighthouse), and I did laugh when Dafoe said he’d seen...

    NOSFERATU - Spoilers

I could only see a previous thread for the movie trailer. Thought I'd start a new one for people that have seen the film and wish to talk about it. Personally, I loved the film. Probably my favourite film by Robert Eggers. Maybe my favourite vampire film, I'm still thinking about that one...

Dungeons & Dragons Pinball Machine Announced

I love me some pinball. I haven't played much since the Covid lockdowns, but before that I was pretty regular. Will be keeping an eye out for this one. Wish there was some pics of the playfield and cabinet.

D&D General Should the DM roll in the open?

Since we play on Discord and don't use on online dice roller, everyone in my group rolls in secret. Both DM and players. We're friends and trust each other. In person I use a screen to hide my notes, so it's easier to roll behind that. I also don't like that rolling things in front pf players...

    Did the nerds win?

And then there are times like now, where it feels like I’m still being made fun of for liking things like the DnD movie. Only now it’s from people within the community, which makes me think that maybe the nerds lost.

    D&D General Let's list/complain about things we don't like

I’m not really a fan of edition warring, regardless of how thinly veiled it might be.

    Did the nerds win?

We finally got a decent DnD film, so yeah, the nerds won.

Spoilers SW: Skeleton crew discussion thread

Charming is right. Personally, I have no idea what’s going on with the central mystery(s), but really enjoying the ride. Always interested to read other peoples theories. Any speculation on who the previous captain might have been? I’ve always been a huge fan of Jude Law, he’s one of those...

RPG Books with the Best Art

Lots of full page art, unfortunately the rules felt a bit rushed so I can’t recommend it. Worth a flick through if you see it in store, though.

RPG Books with the Best Art

I missed that part too. Although, Tales From The Loop is pretty recent. The Dark Souls book for 5E had some great art if you like darker imagery, to the point that it felt more like a coffee table book.
