Sidekick rules from Tasha’s will let you play a dinosaur, I think velociraptor is 1/2 CR. Not that I’d encourage someone to do that as their first character, but it’s doable within the rules.

I started with 2E, played up until about the time 3.5 came out. Was gone about 10 years before 5E brought me back. I'm still enjoying 5E and will hopefully move on to 5E24 at some point.

I think the idea could work, although, in my mind the GM saying yes means... Yes you can try, you would still need to make a dice roll to succeed in a lot of cases. But yes, you can always try. It's something I've tried to encourage in my players (unsuccessfully); don't ask if you can do...

One of the guys behind Marvel Snap came from Magic the Gathering, so it's not that crazy an idea. Like Snap, if the game is good enough, I don't mind the monetization.

You know what makes a good adventure? Good players.

Maybe they'll make a mobile game, full of things people love, like microtransactions. Honestly, I'd love to see them make a Marvel Snap, or Pokemon Pocket clone.
