Gears of Revolution: Notes on my campaign

Interesting reading your thoughts on Cauldron Hill. I got three shrouds on the PC psion, as well as two on Nevard. The psion was sure he was done for once he had three shrouds, so he kept using Memory Hole to prevent the vestige from landing the final blow. I responded by going after Nevard -...

    Ormazd's Campaign Log

Mine is actually starting on Saturday, so I've been busily pillaging this and other story hours for ideas.

    Shakespearian Scenarios for my campaign

I dunno, I think Titus Andronicus could make an amazing scenario. A war hero returns home, and is offered stewardship of the realm, but instead chooses one of two competing candiates. Intrigue and murder follow. Just toss your PCs in the middle of that and see what happens!

D&D 4E Since the announcement of D&D Next, are you still buying 4E product?

I'm interested in several of this year's 4E products, but I haven't decided if I'm going to buy them. I'm keeping my D&DI sub, though; I'm running Zeitgeist and WotBS, plus playing in my girlfriend's Tomb of Horrors 4E game. And wrapping up my long-running play by post d20 Iron Heroes game, but...

    ZEITGEIST ZEITGEIST - Death Roster

I must spread some XP around before giving it to you again, but I thought how you handled El Perro was brilliant. So far I haven't had any deaths. I only dropped one or two PCs in adventure #1, but in adventure #2 they've been dropping left and right. One has been at death's door twice, but...

Status of Adventure 3 - Digging for Lies

I read through the overview section of adventure 3 to see if there were any threads I could emphasize in the latter part of adventure 2. I hadn't introduced the "rival" constable squad, but now I'm thinking I'll work them in so that my PCs get properly annoyed when "their" investigation is...

ZEITGEIST The Flint Irregulars, whose portraits you may have seen

The PCs slept at the safe house where they'd previously stashed Nevard. In the morning, the headed over to HQ to check in, where they found Vesta's drunkard brother Belaver waiting for them. He looked rough, severely hung over, and told them about a "creepy feeling" people were getting near Dawn...

ZEITGEIST The Flint Irregulars, whose portraits you may have seen

Yeah, that's true, but even so, that's a crapton of damage at this level. I think what I'm going to do is have its damage change at each threshold, starting low and going up (2d8+4, 3d8+4, 4d8+4). They're sneaking into the warehouse through one of the windows right now!

ZEITGEIST The Flint Irregulars, whose portraits you may have seen

Thanks for the ideas! I haven't decided what to do yet, because with the way Day 4 has come together, it's going to be a very busy day for my constables. There's no way we're getting to Smuggers' Night in this session (which starts in half an hour or so). They'll find out about the creepy...

I appreciate the plug. I plug Zeitgeist all the time on my other forums. :)

Status of Adventure 3 - Digging for Lies

My group will be going straight into Lies from Skyseer, but there's still quite a bit more of Skyseer left.

After a rest, the constables returned to Goodson's Estuarial Reformatory, where they delivered the warrant freeing Travis. He told them what he knew about the wand smuggling operation. Viveen told him to keep his nose clean, at which point I grabbed a tissue and blew my nose loudly. :D "No...

ZEITGEIST The Flint Irregulars, whose portraits you may have seen

A hydromancer! Brilliant! For my group, it might be something as simple as bringing a full barrel of water, since Reginald can lift up to 400 lbs with his psion telekinesis. When they used Parity Lake water for that in the arson encounter, I told them they were lucky I didn't rule that Parity...

I agree with that. Used judiciously, the escaping villain can be a great way to add punch to a future encounter. I've been considering the House Elf thread, and I'm thinking it's time to get my players using their contacts a bit more. So far we've heard from one of Vesta's brothers, who is...

ZEITGEIST The Flint Irregulars, whose portraits you may have seen

The players weren't frustrated that they couldn't go after Cillian Creed in the Cauldron Hill sequence. They were baffled by his reluctance to engage them directly, although they believed his target was Nevard, so they probably figured that Creed -- or rather, "Unknown Assailant," as his MapTool...

ZEITGEIST The Flint Irregulars, whose portraits you may have seen

Oh, one other thing for other DMs: I have a 4-player party, so I took the two brutes in the Cauldron Hill battle down to level 4. I didn't change anything about the arson encounter.

ZEITGEIST The Flint Irregulars, whose portraits you may have seen

Combat-heavy session today. The fight on Cauldron Hill came down to the wire, with 3 of 4 PCs in single-digit HPs at the end, and one of them having gone down before being revived. The Vestige of Death had 3 shrouds on Reginald, but he kept using Memory Hole on it to keep it from attacking him...

WotBS WOTBS - Scouring - Help with Gabal's School - SPOILERS

I've been looking at the corrections myself, since I'm starting up a 4E WotBS game in 2 weeks as well. Thanks for this thread, it preemptively addresses something that might have confused me!

At the reformatory, they made sure to interview the two prisoners one at a time, and isolated from the rest. They interviewed Ford first, asking general questions about Nilasa before revealing that she died. Ford was reluctant to reveal additional information. I played him as being kind of...
