Crowd-sourcing revisions of the Intro Pack

Island at the Axis of the World 4E, p34: Asrabey is described as a "High Elf Dreadnought."

    Solo Characters

Interesting ideas here. Riffing on the stealth-focused concept, I'd consider adapting my Nightcrawler build: Rogue|Warlock hybrid with an Assassin multiclass. Shadow Walk + Cunning Sneak = at-will Stealth checks to become hidden. Add a nice crossbow and/or the Hexblade feat that gives you a...

Adventure 1 (TIatAotW) Questions - SPOILERS

I wasn't planning to use backgrounds. Should I? Edit: I just finished reading the first adventure (4E version), and I liked it quite a bit. The only place where I got a bit confused was the encounter with Asrabey; there's very little direction (and no numbers) for figuring out how feasible it...

    Homosexuality among eladrin

Lots of interesting feedback! My group are all progressive thirtysomething professionals; I don't see any issue at all with tackling some real-life issues like bigotry in an RPG with this group. It isn't something I've ever tried before, but when my player asked what society at large would think...

    Homosexuality among eladrin

Most of my players are still tinkering with various character options, but I have one who has pretty much decided what she wants to play: Vesta, a male eladrin Vekeshi mystic ensnaring swordmage. We're still working on why he's in the RHC and why the RHC wants him in the first place, but today...

    Bladesinger Preview!

I can't XP AbdulAlhazred again -- could someone do it for me? Great post.

You have only hours to wait...

I bumped my ENWorld sub up to silver once my friends roped me into DMing Zeitgeist for them. I've been poring over the PG and CG to get ready, and started reading the first adventure last night. I'll post some more thoughts once I've had a chance to read the whole thing, but I'm going to have to...

    Google+?

I find the MapTools interface pretty incomprehensible. I've never been able to construct even a simple map. I'll check out GameTable. :)

Looks like I'll be the DM, so I read through the Campaign Guide. Love the overall storyline. Looking forward to checking out the first adventure. :)

    Google+?

My girlfriend tried it with us this weekend in her 4E game. We're currently midway through the new Tomb of Horrors super adventure. It was a much better solution that Skype or Oovoo since the multipoint videoconferencing is free, rather than having to pay past 2 with Skype or past 3 with Oovoo...

    Ending a Campaign... How?

If you think about the duration of a campaign, it's likely that while the campaign is running you'll come up with all sorts of great ideas. Some of them will just occur to you; others may be sparked by your players. So you don't necessarily need to have a clear end in mind when you start --...

D&D 4E What's so bad about 4th edition? What's so good about other systems?

Really? How many classes in 4E have an area burst 2 within 20 power like Fireball? This is still a situation where the Wizard dominates, particularly at low levels. I agree that they're less different, but I disagree on how. The AEDU framework is the key point of similarity; there are no ranged...

    D&D 4E Disillusionment from 4E

There's a much wider variety than that. Just as one example, there are powers that grant some benefit to the PC, rather than forcing movement or applying a status condition to the enemy. There are also barbarian rages, warden guardian forms, summoning powers...

    Making the game more fun

I prep all my encounters in Power2ool anyway, so taking a point or two off each MM3 monster's attacks and defences after importing them is pretty easy. :) I take off one point in heroic and two in paragon. I haven't run or played in an epic game.

Zeitgeist isn't normally my favourite style, but it's a style I like, and I thought the Player's Guide was very well done. I'm intrigued enough that I'm following the Zeitgeist releases, and I think I'd enjoy running it or playing in it. Since I don't know which, I'm avoiding the Campaign Guide...

    Making the game more fun

Over the last year or so I've pretty much adopted all three of those, except for free melee training. For the rest of number 3, I actually fix the math behind the screen rather than awarding bonuses and/or bonus feats. That way, my players can build their characters in the CB using inherent...

Using the Disease Track for lasting injuries.

I considered something similar to that, based on the Dragon Age wound system. If you're unconscious and making death saves, then: If you succeed on your first death save but roll less than 15, you awaken with a wound. If you succeed on your second death save but roll less than 16, you awaken...

D&D 4E What's so bad about 4th edition? What's so good about other systems?

Skill challenges are there in part to support DMs who aren't great at managing emergent gameplay. These DMs can just follow the structure and get something reasonable. But I think skill challenges are more useful than just to help out new DMs. I've been DMing for about 15 years, and I'm...

    Dare I ask... Stealth?

Lots of great advice in this thread, I just wanted to clarify a couple of corner cases that have come up for my Rogue|Warlock/Assassin... You actually "retain the benefits of being Hidden," rather than retaining the Hidden condition. Minor quibble. That's definitely the rule, but it's worth...

DDI Character Builder Home Brew Equipment

I don't think you can. But if you give the PC a Magic Sword +1 in the CB, then make a +1 Sword of Fire and Ice in something like Power2ool, the CB character sheet will have the right math and you can just give the player the custom card to replace the generic one after they print out their sheet.
