    Quick Warlock Question

Stop poking holes in my cheese! It's all Swiss now! ;) There is also the Hexer paragon path that has a few ways to curse multiple people.

Yet another solution to the Minion Problem

So minions can walk across lava? Pass through walls of fire? Ignore clouds of acid?

    Have they tackled Anti-Magic yet?

The problem is that in earlier editions, magic is generally more powerful than anything else, so it was more acceptable to nerf it. Now-a-days, the same situation would end up nerfing the weakest classes.

Teleportation as forced movement: off a cliff?

I'm considering making a houserule that you can save vs. teleportation, and if you do, you are dazed; so it's a worse penalty than for the standard push/pull/slide.

    Have they tackled Anti-Magic yet?

The skill challenge idea (a la AbdulAlhazred) is a good one too. They made a few neat twists with some creatures in MM2 that require skill rolls to deal with their powers (e.g. the sphinx riddle). You could have a monster that is such a master of the arcane that you need to make an arcane check...

    Have they tackled Anti-Magic yet?

Depending on your intent you might want to go for impeding/prohibiting certain keywords rather than "magic" or a powersource, that way you can more finely tune the limitations for the intended effect. A common concern is with teleport, so maybe you could have a special dungeon that prohibits...

    Have they tackled Anti-Magic yet?

I could also see monsters with bonuses to defense vs. different power types (or penalties even). So a Swordmaster might have a +1 to all defenses vs. martial powers. An Accursed Outcast might be at -2 to will and fort vs. divine powers, etc. I'd be very hesitant to make any power source totally...

    Have they tackled Anti-Magic yet?

Now that magic is no longer the supreme power in the universe, why the need for anti-magic? Are you going to make an anti-martial power? I wouldn't be opposed to a few ad-hoc situations where powers from a certain power source are impeded (e.g. a desecrated temple where divine powers are at -1...

    Remebering blast vs burst

Heh, considering I wrote "remebering" in the thread title, I guess it might be a language issue ;) But blast and burst mean pretty much the same thing in day-to-day English. Bombs blast, and bombs burst. Burst of machine gun fire. Blast of hot air. I think part of my problem was with the...

    Remebering blast vs burst

This makes me think of the Order of the Stick strip about "going up a level". Player: I charge the orc and expend a charge from my charged sword of charging! DM: How could you afford that item? Player: Easy! I charged it!

    Remebering blast vs burst

Another minor problem is with describing actions... when I say "the evil wizard blasts you with necrotic energy" I may or may not literally mean a blast. I have similar confusion sometimes with the word "charge"; I will say "the orc charges in and cleaves you" when I'm just describing "running...

    Remebering blast vs burst

I'm always forgetting which area is blast and which is burst. Really, the designers should have tried to think of words which were not so similar and not so interchangeable. So I've thought of a mnemonic device: Burst is uround a space, while blast is at a direction.

Rat Swarm Ongoing Damage vs. Fey Step

And some get shaken off mid-teleport. Somewhere in the Feywild a gnome family is sitting down to eat, and some Eladrin pops in momentarily, standing on their table, then vanishes, leaving behind a dozen rats... "Hooray, dessert!"

How to ride a medium sized companion

In the Eberron campaign guide there are medium mounts (those halfling dino mounts); they have a special feature that specifically says they can be ridden as mounts by small creatures. Unfortunately, you can't just take a mount and call it your companion.

My friend is building a Dwarf Ranger, any tips?

Yes, you get the great +2 damage with any axe with any attack. It's a great way to beef up your 1w damage... I'd suggest wielding a waraxe in one hand and a hand/throwing axe in the other... not as much damage with the offhand, but it gives you the option of making a melee or ranged attack (get...

The "correct" way to deal with marks

When I DM I normally have my critters "respect the mark" and attack the marking character around 50% of the time (assuming there is another taret right nearby). As a defender, you kind of want the enemy to ignore your mark some of the time, that way you get to use your cool signature moves.
