    Arcana check vs Invis

In my experience, detecting invisible with arcana (or the old detect magic method in 3e) worked a lot faster. Mage: detect...detect...detect... Invisible baddie: sneak attack!

    Monster Manual II Design changes

I've seen a few comments about the fort defense of MM2 creatures being scaled back; is this true?

    Dragon equipment

How about this: They get the skin, and want to turn it into wyrmscale armor. So they have to find an enchanter who can work with it. Sure enough, they find one... but it will take a while for the armor to be ready... how long? 8 levels or so....

Can you use forced movement abilities on allies?

I now picture a suicide squad of halfling warriors, with a wizard in the back who thunderwaves them and they go flying through the air, screaming like psychos at the enemy in front of them. Why halflings? Because a horde of halflings launching through the air sounds funnier. What about a feat...

How do you tie someone up!?

You can use the history skill to tie people up. "We've captured you, and, as is customary ever since the beginning of adventuring, you are tied up." Luckily you can also use history to escape. "As is traditional, there is always a sharp scrap of metal or shard of stone to rub the bonds against...

    Ranger's Twin Strike ...

Note that an archer ranger can't wield two longswords (for example); they'd have to wield a longsword and a shortsword.

Beastmaster Ranger How Does the Companion Communicate?

For scouting, in my experience pets communicate in the universal language of getting attacked. If your falcon flies back to you with 4 goblin arrow stuck in him, that's a pretty good indication that there are some goblins up ahead.

How do you handle being blinded?

I allow for a certain amount of "cinematic luck" to keep blindness from being as crippling as it really would be. Yeah, the hero is blind, but can at least generally attack in the right direction, albeit inaccurately. I don't want blindness effect to be the ultimate debuffs. (Now I'm picturing...

Mechanics of Death aka How have you died?

I've noticed the same thing in LFR. One big issue is that it seems that non-dwarves are very reluctant to use their second winds because they don't want to give up their precious standard actions. The problem is that once you are down, it's pretty much up to the healer's special powers to get...

    equivalancy table

Well, the opening the door situation depends on your other stats. Int 7, Str 18? Kick the door down. Int 7, Dex 18? Even just randomly fiddling with the door you open it. Int 7, Cha 18? Lucky you! Other people open doors for you!

    Rules issues with Revenants

Since the lore is that they are a hybrid of gnomes and tolls, I think it's a long O. Gnoll that rhymes will call, however, does sounds like the word gnaw which is very appropriate for a hyenaman.

    Intimidate in combat: viable?

I just realized that you can't intimidate a minion into surrendering, because minions have no "bloodied" status!

D&D 4E Is character death acceptable in 4e? If so, how often?

As a player, I have so many character ideas floating around in my head, and if my character dies then it's like that cliche about "when one door closes, another one opens.." — it's just a chance for me to play another one of my many character ideas. And really, there is nothing keeping you...

How do you handle Magic Circle in your game?

That's why they put up a sign: If the runes run, run!

Because being knocked supine would just lead to confusion.

    Shaman Spirit Companion Problem?

And if you worry about the "flavor" of a shaman wearing chain armor, just "reskin" the armor to be a robe covered in metal charms/talismans/etc. In the real world there are examples of "shaman coats" like this.

    Shaman Spirit Companion Problem?

One funny thing is with the back to the wall feat, no matter where it is your spirit is harder to hit if you are against a wall.

    Portals

If your adventure relies on the characters being able to use the portal (i.e. if it's just a "plot device" portal to bring them to the dungeon or something), feel free to DMify it and make it a skill challenge. Applicable skills include arcana (obviously), dungineering (because of its relation...

Monster Manual 2 and Elite/Solo design

I'm wary of overusing the "more powerful when bloodied" characteristic. It seems so, dare-I-say, videogamey, like fighting Gannon and all of a sudden you think he's beaten...then he's more powerful! Then you beat him again and go to the next stage....

    Metallic Dragons: Unaligned!?

Well, if you're not going to fight them, what's the point of including stats for good monsters? If they are just there as plot devices or NPCs, then the don't need stats; they can be interacted with via a skill challenge.
