    Gravity

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but... Getting stabbed with a short sword 10 times does 10d6 damage? Really? That's an average of about 35 damage. The fighter in my party could get stabbed 30 times and still be ok. That makes NO SENSE. Fix this, 4e!

Avast, me hearty! Be ye aware that there be a 'Pirates!' category for posts o' this sort?

    WOTC needs our help! (duh)

I've been thinking a bit about the whole role thing (and blogging about it)... ultimately, I think part of the problem that he's having is that 'role' as Wizards is currently defining it appears to be just a combat role. What if we said: A character class has distinct important qualities. a)...

    Good races for druids

I played a Gray Elf druid, which worked well. At low levels, the Dex bonus and longbow proficiency helped a lot. The Int bonus meant I could get a ton of skills, which never gets old. Once you get wild shape, the strength penalty isn't much of a problem (and, before that, it is minimized through...

    How do Saga skills work?

It isn't hurting my brain, and I ended up multiclassing - playing a Force Sensitive Scoundrel at level 1 with the intent to multiclass to Jedi... but, honestly, the ONLY thing I really wanted out of the scoundrel class was Bluff. To be forced to multiclass for a single skill seems like bad...

    How do Saga skills work?

I just hope that the skill system in 43 is more customizable that SWSE. I found it very difficult to make a SWSE character that matched what I had in my head due to the fact that you can only be trained in skills that are not on your initial class list by a combination of multiclassing and...

    Renaming the G-word (hint: fighter-mages)

Martial Arcanist? Is that too silly? Warrior-Mage or Battlemage works for me. I'd prefer to avoid things with "blade" or "sword" in them, since... you know... not everyone uses a blade or sword. Though, honestly, I don't mind the rhyming vernacular as long as it isn't used in character or...

    Living Campaigns

I'm not really a fan of the shared-world stuff. I tend to find it unsatisfying. On the other hand, I am curious to see how much LFR will depend upon the virtual game table and D&D Insider... I can see some interesting possibilities there. -Stuart

    Skills?

Not if they follow the the SWSE model - you can spend a feat to become trained in one of your class skills, but you can't add something to your class skill list without multiclassing... and you can't become trained in a non-class skill. -Stuart

    Skills?

My biggest concern about 4e having SWSE roles for skills? You can never be trained in a cross class skill. Want a fighter who is a good lute player? Tough. You can't have it. -Stuart

200 gnomes, in a boat, no wind. Help.

There you go. Actually, dancing lights would probably be pretty effective as a fish lure. Alternately, prestidigitation could almost certainly be used to lure fish... somehow. -Stuart

New ways to generate ability scores.

Everyone in the group rolls 3d6 six times, summing each roll. Anyone can use any set of dice rolls, arranging the six rolls as they see fit. More than one person can use the same set. If you want more flexibility, allow players to subtract one point from one score and add it to another...

PC Roles (New Design and Development Article)

I could easily see Rage turning into a set of Talent Tree options for a ranger-like class. Other options might include something like skirmish or combat styles. -Stuart

PC Roles (New Design and Development Article)

I responded to this in my blog this morning. In general, I am not entirely sure why they didn't get rid of buffing altogether. -Stuart

    Dragons and Permanancy

Ummm... really... if I am fighting a dragon, I'm almost certainly not going to worry about dispelling its Arcane Sight. I expect I'll have better things to spend my limited number of actions and spells on... -Stuart

    The iconic elven warrior/mage

How about: Swashbuckler 3/Wiz 3/Elf Paragon 3/Abjurant Champion 5? Finish that off with Eldritch Knight, Spellsword, Bladesinger, or whatever prestige class makes you happy. -Stuart

    half-orc wizard suggestions

Half-Orc Paragon 1/Wizard 1/Human Paragon 2 next level, take Human Paragon 3 - this will net you another spellcasting level and +2 to Int. Compared to your build, this will give you: one less spell-progression level no rage and barbarian stuff more HP more skills a bonus feat an intimidation...

    D&D 4E death and 4E

I dispute that awareness you cannot die is necessarily less fun than death. That doesn't even make sense. 1) Even in the current system, running out of hp doesn't kill you. 2) A denial of 0 hp=death is not equal to no consequence. 3) There can be consequences other than death, and they can...

    D&D Brand Manager of Fluff

Ah, yes.... The Book of Legends - Feature a number of legends that can be dropped into a variety of campaigns- say 20-30. Each of them gets a bardic song and a few variations on the story. Each legend gets a number of adventure hooks... maybe a map or two... and possibly a couple write-ups of...
