It's been so long since the last GURPS edition, that the present day is now in the "future" tech level

I'm not sure what you mean by load-bearing. The rules for guns still work off of how Ranged attacks work. There does exist additional detail for rate-of-fire, but that's not that hard. The rules for shotguns are a little hard to digest at first. (Though, I would say that's because they're...

I don't think it would take very long to pair down GURPS. Once you know what kind of game you want to run, it's pretty easy to cut things. Does my game include guns? If no, I don't need any of those rules. ...magic ...psionics ...etc There is a valid argument to be made for speeding up...

Anecdotally, I've found that using the Barrett does require different (but related) skills compared to the typical uses of an m4. I would agree that some of the same techniques translate. The system does too, and that is why some skills can default off of other skills. In the case of comparing...

GURPS 4th is still my favorite system. There are gameplay styles that I haven't yet found better systems for. It certainly has flaws, but I've learned how to fix the most egregious ones without much effort.

For some reason, YouTube's algorithm started to think I am a native Spanish speaker. The videos I watch are interrupted by the same ads that I had before -but in Spanish. While I do occasionally some foreign videos (i.e. Rammstein, occasional some Latvian folk music, and a handful of other...

For me, most of that post might as well be a foreign language. To clarify, I'm not saying that out of any type of snarkiness. It's simply that you have different interests than I do. I prefer sardines out of a can, with spicy mustard sauce -on a cracker.

I feel similar to Belen. Speaking only for myself, journalists that I enjoy most often don't have Twitter as their sole platform. Presumably, creators that I enjoy are creating things with which I interact. Admittedly, that is because of some internal bias, and that may be something that I...

I am glad that choices are available for people who want those choices to be available.

I'm not hedging anything. You asked a question, and I answered what I would do given a situation that you had presented. In return, I asked what you would do given a situation that I had presented. As previous comments had talked about approaches to information and exploring thought...

In a situation where two sources have the exact same information (with 0 deviations,) I would most likely choose whichever source were more cordial. On your end, would you intentionally choose a source with a history of faulty information solely because it makes you feel better over a source...

I can only speak for my own feelings. Rejection of viewpoints isn't an issue. Yes, there is some good feeling from being correct. However, different opinions are not something I've ever had an issue with. I'm not an omnipotent omnipresent being; I make mistakes. If someone feels differently...

Sure At the same time, watching multiple people continue to say the same pre-programmed talking points (even in the face of objectively factual information and proveable logic) is, I believe, what is meant by "echo chamber." For the people who like Xwitter, they have it. For the people who...

Speaking only for myself; I never felt "abused" during the very brief time I had a Twitter account. I simply didn't enjoy the community and the general vibe. A lot of conversations seemed to be a conflict between competing enclaves of echo chambers. It also makes me roll my eyes when...

I think it's good to give people choices. I don't use Twitter because -before Musk- I didn't like the culture there. If Blue Sky is a community of ex-Twitter users, I don't imagine that I would enjoy the culture there either.

    Tips to Improve Discord Experience?

That makes some amount of sense. I didn't grow up with PC gaming like that. It was either in-person "Couch Co-op" or Lan Parties. Having a way to chat with a group makes sense. I do that with some gaming now; I just don't use Discord to do it. How do you find a group or a person without...
