Dungeon of the Fire Opal, Part VI

I vote for that too ! Edit : Hey, I just realized I can do something about it ! Later that evening... The ride along the road to Westgate was uneventful. The nice weather and well-kept road made for good time and the group arrives at Archibald's estate as the sun is setting over the bay...

    I'm annoyed at archers.

That was a BADD moment if there ever was one. :D

Dungeon of the Fire Opal, Part VI

lol I was wondering how long it would be until someone realized or mentioned that. :D The breakfast is good and fresh. It energizes the party for the day's travelling to come. Afterwards, the heroes manage to scrounge up enough small change to pay for the room and meal.

Also, nothing prevents a wizard from casting polymorph other on himself, right ?

How a DM can counter cheesy PC tactics w/o using cheesy DM tactics.

Granted. Your enemies can't target the rogue, just like if he was invisible. They still have to be 60' away or the spells will cancel each other, thus negating this tactic. And they're everybit as useless against the rogue's opponents as the enemies are useless against the rogue. Sure, they...

How a DM can counter cheesy PC tactics w/o using cheesy DM tactics.

Hmm... It's not as good as improved invisibility!! It makes the rest of the group mostly useless ! For about as much magical investment. (2nd+3rd level vs 4th level) Unless of course you cast it on every PC. Now that would be cheesy.

How a DM can counter cheesy PC tactics w/o using cheesy DM tactics.

We've used this tactic in the past. We don't use it often, though, because the deeper darkness spell has a huge area of effect and it often makes the rest of the party pretty much useless... :(

Dungeon of the Fire Opal, Part VI

... and this is when a dragon crashed on the inn... (kidding) The rest of the night passes without incident, and the party wakes up (at various times) to the welcoming aroma of baking bread coming from the inn's kitchen. (Edit : Yay ! I can post ! I can post !)

Dungeon of the Fire Opal, Part VI

The night sped by like a dream. The electrical atmosphere in the tavern, the shouts of the crowd, the free-flowing alcohol... When Ubaar stepped into the ring the first time and quickly defeated his opponent, the crowd noticed. The following hours went by quickly, as the barbarian took down...

Dungeon of the Fire Opal, Part VI

People seem to be betting amounts in silver pieces, mostly, sometimes going up to a few gold pieces. It's mostly working-class joes in here, or the medieval peasant equivalent. Please do. :D You got a +4 for the Bull's Strength, btw.

Dungeon of the Fire Opal, Part VI

You find a bar with a ring where people, mostly sailors, are wrestling in a kind of central arena. It seems to be a "challenge" system, where two guys wrestle and the winner gets challenged by someone in the crowd and so on. There's also all kinds of drinking, dancing and other shenanigans going...

    Ultramodern Firearms d20 Web Preview

That's a really good point. I've used gun catalogs and guides for years for Vampire games. Usually, extrapolating gun stats is very easy. It's even what the game Feng Shui suggests that you do. (Sorry, Chris :o )

Re: Quality vs. Realizm vs. Playability What ? That's crazy talk, man. If anything, the BlahBlah2a should do slightly less damage than the 2b, because of loss of kinetic energy in the badly designed barrel. I thought everybody knew that. Get your facts straight, d00d ! (You should always...

Dungeon of the Fire Opal, Part VI

At night, the port is quiet. About a dozen ships are anchored to the docks, guarded by alert-looking guards. The streets near the port, however, are bustling with activity. Like any other port town, sailors are spending their money freely in the nearby inns, or carousing on the street...

Dungeon of the Fire Opal, Part VI

[/b] (OOC : as an aside, it is well-known that Teziir is the safest city on the den of depravity that is the Dragon Coast.) A half day to a day's ride. The pilgrims turn to look haughtily at the barbarian. "Nooo, we haven't come to establish a Temple to our Lord of the Morning. We have...

Dungeon of the Fire Opal, Part VI

The bystander hurries on his way. After taking a look around, the party comes to the conclusion that Wolf's Tavern is a pretty average little inn, with reasonable prices and okay food and drinks. Its name comes from the owner/bartender, James Wolf, a retired adventurer. The party...

    Pinned Dragon

Maybe so, but in the example, the dragon is pinned, which is one step further from grappling : It's still not clear, but I wouldn't let a dragon breathe while pinned. If you can prevent it from slashing you with a claw, you can probably hold it's mouth away from you as well.
