belt of might? +1 or +2 to all scores

I guess me & Ridley's Cohort', possibly others. Not you, obviously. A correct opinion? Your insistence to dodge the question is noted. Sounds like rule 0. You're trying to insert your opinion in the creation rules it seems. Which deviates from the rules with no justification except, "not...

Ignoring DR with an unarmed attack

And cold iron (forget the levels). #319, BTW. Also, the Omatu master (#315) grants silver & cold iron penetrating; it's a halfling monk PrC. A warforged monk is close. With no PrCs, he can get past adamantine, cold iron, silver, magic, chaotic, & bludgeoning DRs. And that's before magic items...

belt of might? +1 or +2 to all scores

Ridley's Cohort mentioned alternatives, so I was asking him. You mean nobody (in your opinion) is able to fully use all six. I said "what in the DMG abolishes that?". Where in the DMG does it say that that's now wrong? Yes, oh dear, it's correct. That discount never, ever being mentioned in the...

belt of might? +1 or +2 to all scores

The headband of perfect excellence from Sword & Fist? Its price looks spot-on: 36000 (belt of Strength +6) + 36000 (gloves of Dexterity +6) + 36000 (periapt of Wisdom +6) = 108,000gp 18000 (adding gloves' ability to first item) + 18000 (adding periapt's ability to first item) + 18000 (Strength...

belt of might? +1 or +2 to all scores

That assumption being that the cost to make an item has a flat value? Where in the creation rules/guidelines does it refer to discounts of this sort? Please name some of them, then.

belt of might? +1 or +2 to all scores

Why should the creator of the magic item care who uses his item? It costs the same for him to make it, regardless of the user. So, after he's made it, should he sell it to someone based on how usefull the buyer will find it? If so, then that's outside the magic item creation rules.

belt of might? +1 or +2 to all scores

Any character that wears the belt gets the same increases each of the abilities scores. Whether a particular ability score is useful to a character or not, doesn't factor into how costly it is to make the item. Other than the six, separate stat-booster items, what are the alternatives in the...

belt of might? +1 or +2 to all scores

Whether the build needs it or not, it's getting the same benefits as another character. By your reasoning, if something is less useful for one character than another, it's cheaper to make it (& sell it) for/to the former?

belt of might? +1 or +2 to all scores

How are the formulas being misapplied in this case? How useless something is is subjective in this case (varying from person to person). How does that affect how costly it is to make an item (& consequently, the standard market price of the item)? How so?

belt of might? +1 or +2 to all scores

'S funny, I can't find anything in the section on magic item creation where it says there's a discount/price break on bundling separate magic items into a single form. The sidebar on page 282 seems to state the opposite, in fact.

belt of might? +1 or +2 to all scores

They are guidelines because they don't outline how to make any kind of magic item imaginable. But there is a formula for making stat enhancers, there is a formula for combining magic items, & there is a formula for creating magic items with/without slot affinity. Are you're saying it's okay to...

    Fell Flight & Expeditious Retreat

ER gives an enhancement bonus to your base land speed. That & ER's does-not-work-with-other-movements clause are good enough for me; it just doesn't jibe with me that magically improving land movement should increase flying movement when the spell mentions not working on other modes. But, FF is...

belt of might? +1 or +2 to all scores

You forgot to add the cost of combining items. That's what, +90,000gp to the +6 version? Then add the cost for lack of slot affinity for most of the bonuses. I never said broken (in the sense of being powerful; it was referring to an actual breaking of rules). :p

    Fell Flight & Expeditious Retreat

In case you didn't get the inferences, fell flight is a lesser warlock invocation. As to the topic, I don't think ER should increase FF. ER says it doesn't affect other movement modes.

belt of might? +1 or +2 to all scores

It breaks the pricing guidelines, plain & simple. Yes, I know, guidelines, not rules; but it's still cheaper than buying an equivalent-bonus item for each ability score. Which makes no sense. That nearly brain-dead orc still gets better saves across the board, Initiative & possibly AC, more...

    Paladin/Monk for a One-Shot

Check the magic item slot guidelines in the back of the DMG. It's abilities don't fit the amulet slot, thus a surcharge.

belt of might? +1 or +2 to all scores

IIRC, the belt of excellence, & it came in +4 & +6 varities. Horribly underpriced & found in the Miniatures Handbook.

    Paladin/Monk for a One-Shot

If you're looking for a PrC (& you haven't asked it, but...), I would suggest either the sacred fist from Complete Divine (not sure of the paladin levels needed to enter, & it's inclusion precludes the use of a staff) or one (forget the name) from Faiths of Eberron (for the Silver Flame, but if...

    Dragon Disciple vs. 1/2 dragon?

Sorry, my logic is taking what I think are quite understandable steps. :) I take it the Native subtype is a bit altered for you as well?

    Dragon Disciple vs. 1/2 dragon?

Well it doesn't directly, literally state it either way (that I know of), so what sounds more logical? A half-humanoid creature can be affected by a spell aimed at humanoids, but its more-than-half-humanoid offspring can't? If you want to disregard that, then:Certain spells I'm thinking of that...
