Your first brush with D&D (OF ANY STRIPE)

My first experience was in 1978 in High School. One of my friends was playing the basic game with two other kids and invited me to join in their game that weekend. I rolled up a hobbit thief as no one else had one. We were being chased by a manticore so I had all of us draw our bows and waited...

    Gaming with the Family

Actually I talked to my 12 year old son today about forming a group if he can find some friends who are interested. If so, have to decide if to use 3.5E, C&C or maybe get a basic set. -KenSeg gaming since 1978

DDM Minis: Do you stow them away or put them on display?

We have our collection on the shelves of the bookcases in the game room. Between the two families we have well over several hundred figures, mostly the old lead ones that were hand painted while our eyes were still good enough for the detail work. They get dusty but we wash them off once a year...

"Noah....I am God. Build me a large ship and gather two of every kind together so that they can reproduce and repopulate the world" (Pause) "Oh! You are Eric Noah. Never mind. Don't build a ship. You can't swim can you? You haven't reproduced have you? Please tell me you haven't reproduced!"

Eric Noah, post in this thread. Everyone else stay out.

{Ah, if we're doing anagrams I prefer "Ace Rhino" or "A Nicer Ho".} A nicer Ho...then there would be a little Eric Noah in all of us eh? :D -KenSeg Playing as Eric Noah since 1978

How many people have you played D&D with?

Lets see.... Do you run multiple PCs?

We have run two PCs each for almost all of our 20 years of playing together as a group. This is easier to do when the group is small like ours, usually only three players. I would limit it if our group grew too large. Never had much problems in running two characters. One of the more amusing...

Pre-designed world Vs Starting from scratch

We have been playing in our homebrew setting for 20 years now. Our DM, Don, tried to use Kalamar maps and used Ebberon for short periods, but we, the players, told him that we much preferred his world that he had created. How is that for an ego boost! :D I have always found that the homebrew...

ENworld is the place where we can go and find out that there are many more nerds just like us! :-) Seriously, this is a great community filled with ideas, comments, suggestions and sarcasim. Many of the poster names have become like old friends and I always look forward to their comments and...

    I Have A Problem With 3E

Multi-classing - Our group uses no PrC at all. Multi-classing is allowed but you need to have some story-driven basis for it, not just that you want the skills for your toon. Meta-Magic. - Hasn't been a big problem since we have rarely taken meta-magic feats and we usually end up stopping at...

    Current classic D&D bestsellers

I find it interesting that Rules cyclopedia is on all of the lists. I never saw that one but have seen it mentioned by a number of the posters. Might have to download it and take a look to satisfy my curiousity. -KenSeg gaming since 1978

    Gaming across the US

Ah, fond memories of gaming in Will County (SOuthland Chicago) where I grew up in the 70s. Snow drifts could not keep we fabled adventurers from our appointed time with fate! A merry xmas wave to all your Chicagoians from Sunny Florida. :p -KenSeg gaming since 1978

D&D - Thinking outside of the box

Going outside of the box is great for finding something on which to hang quests and such. Our personal character generator provides for good and bad characteristics. Several characters have had demon spawn for a good characteristic, providing the DM with a great story line of the character...

What are you getiing your Game Master for the Holidays?

Our group is small now, only the DM and his wife and myself and my wife. We are like family so we get each other xmas gifts, gifts for the kids, spike the eggnog, etc. I got them the boxed DVD set for Brisco County Jr., a favorite TV series of theirs from the past. I am also getting the DM a...

    Naming the Pit Fiend

Don't give me this Balzu, goggledarn, politically correct nonsense! In our group they will be called devils and demons until they pry the dice from my cold dead fingers! :p -KenSeg gaming since 1978

How Many PC's Do You Control?

Our group has played with 2 characters per player for 20 years. Generally our group consists of the GM and three players, so 2 characters per player gives us enough to cover the general range of classes/skills needed. We have also found it good for two of us who had extensive acting backgrounds...
