    Addicted to Crack [D&D Minis]

Just wait for Archfiends to come out, then Dragoneye will be a lot more available :) I keep buying them over and over trying to get dire apes. I need them for my Runethane!

What good are insta-kill spells and monsters ?

Its funny, but you'll find that a lot of players are fine with the BBEG being dropped by a spell and unlucky save in the first round of a combat. But, if the situation is reversed, they will complain that its not fun for thier characters to be in the same situation. I'm not saying that this is...

Sins of Our Fathers - 2/10 - Final Update

Very cool Destan. I'm really looking forward to the next chapter. I love the idea of a campaign continuing on even though the first party was wiped out. Someone else in the world taking up the mantle and carrying the story on. (I know that not all of them died)

The flip side of the insta-kill discussion... What good are mooks?

If you're a caster, you better watch out for mobs of mooks. In the right situation, they can overbear and grapple you to the ground. 8th level sorceror in my game got jumped by a village of commoners. He hesitated on blowing them up and almost got grappled and killed. Cracked me up :)

Shenanigans in DeShamod - What To Do?

A mean punishment would be to require the troublemakers to capture a few creatures for the menagerie as restituition for thier crime. Who better to catch livestock than a totem warrior?

Question about the Witch King in LOTR

I really think this scene is in the EE. If you watch one of the trailers that they are showing on tv, you see Eomer on his knees crying and screaming. I don't remember this scene actually being in the film. It could be him grieving over the "death" of Eowyn or Theoden.

[SPOILERS] THE Return of the King Thread

I have to see it a second time. Im always too busy trying to find the books in the first viewings. Its hard to enjoy the film for what it is when Im looking to see what they left out or changed.

[SPOILERS] THE Return of the King Thread

I would disagree with the order, but I think you definitely got the teary sections. The fall of Boromir is still the one that gets me the most, closely followed by Aragorn the King bowing to the hobbits.

[SPOILERS] THE Return of the King Thread

Go see it Flexor, for all our griping, I bet the vast majority of us walked out of the theatre with teary eyes. I know I did. Even with the parts missing that we would have loved to have seen, its an incredible film. Just incredible. Well worth seeing on the big screen. You'll be mad if you...

[SPOILERS] THE Return of the King Thread

Hehe...it was good to see Sloth from Goonies getting work again, he's really come up in the world. Captain of Mordor hordes! I really think Legolas killing the Mumakil was a tongue in cheek bit of humor on the part of the director. I mean, Eowyn dropped one solo by simply cutting on one's...

[SPOILERS] THE Return of the King Thread

The movie was the best Ive seen in terms of epic scope. Absolutely incredible. I wanted to see more of Aragorn though. I mean, the film is Return of the King after all. Its like you see him get Anduril, dump Eowyn, command the Dead of Dunharrow, and then command the troops to attack the...

Divinations...something that has always irked me

I can't see any NPC submitting to magic being cast on them unless they trust the caster. How does he know that his mind is being read? What if the caster is casting a curse on him? What if it will hurt? NPCs aren't simply going to roll over submit to whatever spells the caster wants to cast...

Sailors on the River of Worlds- Update

Well, its a Science-Fiction series, dealing with catholicism, the writing of John Keats, and the ideas of Teilhard. (evolution of god to the omega point). Its got some great ideas, but not so many that will fit in a dnd setting. I also wouldnt want to give spoilers in the overall plot (mainly...

Sailors on the River of Worlds- Update

Dan Simmons That's exactly what I thought of when I read the title of the thread. Dan Simmon's Hyperion, The Fall of Hyperion, Endymion, and The Rise of Endymion. In these books, they have devices called Farcasters, which are basically portals between different planets. One major device in...

Sagiro's Story Hour Returns (new thread started on 5/18/08)

Seki Has the stats to the Seki been posted? I really like this monster concept and intend to use in my current campaign. I've worked up a set of stats for it, but I wanted to compare to Sagiro's version.

PCs who kill everyone that attacks them

I pretty much play my NPCs according to the personality I created for them. Some of them grovel when beaten, some spit in the pcs face, some look for ways to escape, some look to help the pcs in return for freedom, some try to trick the pcs to attempt to kill them a later day. Theres no...

PCs who kill everyone that attacks them

Interesting Its interesting to see the replies about the situation that happened in my game. The different POVs are interesting and pretty much sum up the different views of the players. I sent them out an email today to explain how I was seeing things as a DM and so on. I explained the laws...
