D&D General The Greyhawk Pantheon: How Greyhawk Approaches Deities (& Demigods)

Maybe some clumsy neologism based off monastery?

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Warlock"

I’ve been playing the UA7 celestial warlock and mostly very pleased. (The jump invocation has been so fun). We had already house ruled Summon Celestial to the patron list so that was sweet to see! I kinda hope attention could be added to allowing the Healer origin feat to work with the Healing...

D&D General The Greyhawk Pantheon: How Greyhawk Approaches Deities (& Demigods)

I recall that Len Lakofka was given authorship of much of the Suel pantheon. There might have been disputes about what Len wrote about them. I’m not sure if Len actually created any of the Suel gods though. I liked that he likely was the inspiration for Lendor.

D&D General The Greyhawk Pantheon: How Greyhawk Approaches Deities (& Demigods)

On page 22 of the ‘83 glossography there is a “Special Weather Phenomenon” that include a deity and servants, and another for “Two or more battling deities” Need more god battles causing weather!

D&D 5E (2024) Greyhawk- New Map, Discussion of Changes

Are you familiar with the scale of the Blackmoor region maps from the DA series? It’s 350 miles or so from Blackmoor to Archlis on the opposite side of the peninsula.

D&D 5E (2024) Greyhawk- New Map, Discussion of Changes

If you’re looking for problems you’re going to try to force Dave’s Blackmoor into that section of the Flanaess you have to T.A.R.D.I.S. the land and warp the size of Dave’s Blackmoor into the tiny amount of room the Flanaess allows. You have a lot of contorting the likes of a circus performer...

D&D 5E (2024) Greyhawk- New Map, Discussion of Changes

Here is Blackmoor from the 4-panel LG map published in Dragon Magazine. The “ruins” are of Blackmoor Town. You can bet a Comeback Inn is somewhere around to dimension hop to Dave’s iteration of Blackmoor though.

D&D General Forgive my blasphemy: downplaying the Grayhawk gods

I think downplaying the pantheon is very doable. I’ve seen some run Greyhawk with their handpicked faves from the old Deities and Demigods. On the whole, I can see the gonzo-ness especially when viewed as if it were a cohesive single. However, when viewing the different cultural origins as if...

D&D 5E (2024) Greyhawk- New Map, Discussion of Changes

My recollection from, I think the City of Greyhawk boxed set, the Selintan’s connection to Nyr Dyv’s Midbay is artificial. Something like a gnome clan was hired to excavate a barge link through the Cairn Hills so that Greyhawk could prosper as a participant on the great continental river barge...

D&D 5E (2024) Greyhawk- New Map, Discussion of Changes

I’m a bit of an obsessive for lore that might need to appear in my maps. 🤓 I hate publishing my hobby maps and it has an error.

D&D 5E (2024) Greyhawk- New Map, Discussion of Changes

None I know. I have fairly intimate knowledge of Ivid the Undying and it is not present at all. It appears newly made up. Though in light have preferred a derivation of the Flan kingdom that was conquered, like Ahlissa.

D&D 5E (2024) Greyhawk- New Map, Discussion of Changes

Okay, here’s another impressive little detail. The city of Roland along the coast of the Gull Cliffs, as described in Ivid is in the Bay of Gates, a small well-protected freak harbor that nestles into the hills. The included map from the Dragon Magazine article on the Sea Barons placed a large...

D&D 5E (2024) Greyhawk- New Map, Discussion of Changes

I’m convinced Mike either had scoured materials, is a Greyhawk superfan, or had access to a Greyhawk guru when mapping this because little deep derails are all over. Like placing the Isle of Cursed Souls from the unpublished Ivid the Undying, just off Aerdiaak (North Province), the small isles...

    D&D 5E (2024) Check Out The New Dungeon Master's Guide's Greyhawk Map

It was rather like a whipsaw trying to explain the defeats to the Horned Society plus bandits, some never described total victory over the HS+bandits, then followed nearly immediately by total the defeated to Iuz. We never tried to explain how Walworth Isle was lost because we know FtA never...

    D&D 5E (2024) Check Out The New Dungeon Master's Guide's Greyhawk Map

It was truly a time of my life being able to guide some of the stories! I have fond memories of large interactives to free Lord Torkeep’s lands (a pre-made PC from Isle of the Ape), assault and free Admundfort, establish teleportation circles between Ringland and Critwall. Then when WotC told us...

D&D 5E (2024) GREYHAWKCONFIRMED! Reflections on Greyhawk in the DMG

Yah you could say removing “See of…” from Medegia was a change, separating from a very real world faith that uses it. Caverns of Tsojcanth is up in the Yatils.

    D&D 5E (2024) Check Out The New Dungeon Master's Guide's Greyhawk Map

The Greyhawk Wars saw the Shield Lands lose 100% to Iuz’s forces. The Iuz the Evil accessory had the Shield Lands as a province of Iuz’s empire. The Adventure Begins saw the Great Northern Crusade reclaim a foothold at Critwall and the Critwall Bridge, with around a 30-mile radius from there...

D&D 5E (2024) GREYHAWKCONFIRMED! Reflections on Greyhawk in the DMG

A lot of small coastal islands have been added, like the many coastal islands in the 2e Scarlet Brotherhood accessory, especially along the Spine Ridge. I noticed that LGG added a fourth big island for the Sea Princes, that Darlene only had 3. But Schley returns to pre-LGG three big islands.
