Why are some NPCs so amazingly irritating? (e.g. Khelben Blackstaff)

Not to start a flame war or anything... :heh: But I personally find many of the FR characters to be amazingly annoying. For example, I'll agree with Blackstaff, and toss in Drizzt and ELminster. (Interstingly, the Realms has also produced one of my favorite characters, namely Cadderly...

[HELP] Looking for a piece of classic art.

You mean this one? (If it's the one I'm thinking of, it's the last pic in the top row of the first painting gallery. If correct, here is the ordering information.)

    D&D 4E Gaming, Gamers, Dollars, and 4E

Interesting thread, and one I've been thinking about myself. While I'm still an avid D&D player, I'm not so much a consumer anymore. Will 4E change this? Maybe, but probably not. There are things I will buy and have budgeted money for ("City of Brass", "Shackled City", "RAR", etc.), but I...

What's your runner up D&D setting?

Well, my favorite setting is "Planescape", hands down. My 2nd favorite setting? "Midnight" from Fantasy Flight. (Though "Dark Sun" and "Ravenloft" are neck-and-neck runners-up.)

    Piecemeal Adventure Path about Dragons?

Well, not sure about full-fledged adventure paths, but offhand, there's: "Against the Dragon Cult" from Goodman Games, which takes characters from Level 1-10. And, Dungeon Magazine published 3 adventures featuring Flame the Red Dragon that are loosely connected. (I'll see if I can google the...

    The Killer Dungeon

Off the top of my head? A) "Crypt of the Devil Lich": Goodman Games B) "Three Faces of Evil": (Dungeon Magazine #125- Part 2 of Age of Worms.) C) "Rappan Athuk" (Necfromancer Games) D) Parts of "World's Largest Dungeon" (AEG)

New ways to generate ability scores.

My group tried a simple "fixed set of numbers, arrange as you please" system. 18 16 14 12 10 8 Worked out pretty well for us. :)

    Stupid Maxim!

That "Maxim" thing? Completely trash-tacular. ... Makes me glad I'm gay.

Ryan Dancey on Redefining the Hobby (Updated: time elements in a storytelling game)

When we play Arkham Horror, we house-ruled that, to keep everyone invovled as much as possible, the player to the left of the current player reads the "Arkham Encounter" cards (if needed), and the player to the right reads the "Other-World" encounters (again, as needed.) Also, we "assign"...

[For Scott Rouse] Is there going to be a Feat Compendium for 3.5?

But remember, a personalized spreadsheet CAN have that 3rd party-stuff, where a WotC one likely would have ONLY WotC feats. See? Every cloud has a silver lining. :)

Do You Have A Campaign Website? Do You Use It?

We have a Yahoogroup for general discussion (OOC, scheduling, etc.). For the campaign proper, we have a Wiki set up. Not as pretty as a web page, but arguably more useful: Here is the link.

    Fun to play Characters

Oooh… Too many to name. Some of the most memorable for me? Lady Jasmine of the White Rose: Lawful Good Fighter of Elhonna. Eternally optimistic, she had a notoriously bad habit of continously falling for the wrong man, but never learned from her mistakes. (She had a 7 Wisdom.) Siberys...

*POLL* Do You Feel That Greyhawk is a Dead Campaign Officially?

I voted "Barely Supported". But alot of other cool settings are "Dead and withered". (At least in terms of "Official" Suport.) Not to slight any of the fan sites, who do amazing stuff [esp. www.athas.org]... But how do you think it feels to be a fan of "Dark Sun"? Or "Spelljammer"? Or...

    best boxed sets?

Waiting for a review of Castle Whitrock. There seems to be some anticpation, but not nearly to the level of DCC 35.

    best boxed sets?

Three of my biggies already mentioned. Great minds think alike, apparently! :) Of course, I'll also toss in the "Ravenloft" Boxed sets, the "Spelljammer" boxed sets, and of course the "Dark Sun" boxed sets. (I admit it; I'm a setting whore!!) I haven't picked up "City of Brass" yet, so can't...

D&D 4E Heads up! All 4e threads being moved into new 4e forum

I'll chime in as well, with a "Thanks for the move". And add in a "Kudos" to all the mods. (Dinkeldog and Umbran especially, who were quite active over the wekeend.) I certainly don't envy you your powers right now. ;)

I got Monte Cook's World of Darkness

Oh, HandofVecna. You did NOT just bring up the "S-Word". Seriously, though? I'm torn about this product. While I kinda like the premise, it sounds like a mixed bag, execution-wise. Not sure if I want to spend the SRP on this one.... Maybe I'll see if my FLGS has a copy to flip through.

I have got a 3.5 game to run!

Well, I'll check out 4E. But am unlikely to upgrade, (t least in the immediate future!) as: A) We're in two long-running campaigns (we're not quite halfway through "Shackled City", and we're only a quarter into "Age of Worms"...) B) We have "Savage Tide" and "Burning SKy" waiting in the...

D&D 4E Let me sum up 4e anger for you.

Have we confirmed they still have those weaknesses in the new edition? :p ... Sorry, couldn't resist!! But yes, I smell troll as well. :)
