    I need some advice....

the D10 rule is simple and actually does speed up initiative from standard D20. Only Dex modifiers apply and so you simply do this: DM: Roll Initiative. *Players roll* DM: Alright, 15 and above? 14... 13... 12... 11... Player #1: Me, I attack. *player attacks* Alright, we were at 11...

[EDITION WARZ] Selling Out D&D's Soul?

Ah AC. 3e did get that a little to extreme. It's actually quite easy for a low level character to get to AC 20 which is 3e's version of AC0. I would gasp and choke if even my 3rd level fighter hit AC0 as easily as it can be hit in 3e by a fighter of the same class. Or even a rogue if min-maxed...

    I need some advice....

I have recently come across two dilemma's. One old and one new. First, the old one: I have been DMing for some time now and I am beginning to get tired of combats taking an hour +, I have had games planned out and inspiration for great scenes only two top off the night with two encounters and...

Techniques for spicing up aventures! By: Everyone?!

Hmmm, children, I'll remember that when my PC's get back to town. I like the idea of interesting combat locales. As for rules, if your PC's don't include rules lawyers then winging it is easy enough. I once had a 3e storm scene while the players were on a ship at sea and a few reflex saves and...

Techniques for spicing up aventures! By: Everyone?!

I love horror adventures. While I don't think either of my present campaigns would work as pure horror adventures I plan on incorporating Taint (Considering letting my PC's unwittingly unleash it upon the world) and replacing some D&D standard villains with variants from Heroes of Horror. I...

Techniques for spicing up aventures! By: Everyone?!

Thankfully my group were a group of close and old friends when I made a mistake like that. They made sure to let me know it was indeed a mistake. Went through a lot of phases when I was younger realizing the best way for me to approach DMing, found out it was storytelling and *then* it took me...

[EDITION WARZ] Selling Out D&D's Soul?

Alaska may not be the state to watch for business trends but the internet evens that playing field quite a bit. I imagine if you were to take a peak at the numbers comming out of Wizards of the coast you won't find much pointing towards a declining trend. As for Alaska and business trends, well...

Techniques for spicing up aventures! By: Everyone?!

Hmmmm, a rope bridge and a bunch of stirges! Or other flying creatures. One group I played in were almost taken out by stirges, surprisingly effective creatures those oversized mosquitos, even my character who typically manages to avoid getting hit (he's an assassin in a Castles and Crusades...

[EDITION WARZ] Selling Out D&D's Soul?

On Wayne Ligons Post On Wayne Ligons Post and the topic of Gotcha Monsters. First off, you are dealing with a settuings where wizards somehow find the materials and means to build and construct massive dungeons guarding treasures and so on. Settings where it is common for spellcasters to...

Wow, that sounds pretty interesting, think you might post such a list as a sample?

Techniques for spicing up aventures! By: Everyone?!

I've been lightly involved in a discussion about what edition of D&D is better than the other and while reading some posts I realized I was getting sick of thinking and focusing on mechanics and wanted to discuss and bring up ideas about how to enhance the thing that got me into DMing to begin...

[EDITION WARZ] Selling Out D&D's Soul?

Heh, okay, I may be overstepping my bounds, especially seeing as I don't know much about cars. I do remember, however, looking through a Consumer Reports Automobile Buyers Guide about five years ago and couldn't find a single Toyota brand vehicle on any of the lists of vehicles known to...

For More Than Glory (Emiricol's Campaign)

I think I might at least have my prestige class in there.... not sure. My own time has been severely precious this semester. Though if there is anything you think I can help with let me know and I'll see what I can or can't do.

[EDITION WARZ] Selling Out D&D's Soul?

On the topic of the present edition of D&D selling better I definitely must say there is something of an unfair advantage. When Wizards bought out D&D they had made bank on Magic sales and that damnable card games (sorry, bitter memories) high sales and they pumped out a rather nice advertising...

[EDITION WARZ] Selling Out D&D's Soul?

Alright, I've got a few minutes so I suppose I can post here. I've been gaming since I was 11, roughly twelve years pretty much. I started off with 2e and am working with 3e (3.0, 3.5, it's all still 3rd edition :P) and I've had mixed feelings about the new edition to say the least. The...

    Where is Ravenloft in Greyhawk?

Heh, in my not so humble opinion the idea of making it intentionally vague was far better than declaring it the prison of Tharizdun. That way, someone who would think it cool if it was (such as yourself Aaron) could then tweak it appropriately and make it so in their own campaign world without...

For More Than Glory (Emiricol's Campaign)

Wow, it seems there is some life left in these boards. How's everyone doing? Are there any plans to get T13K back on it's feet again or is the only bastion of activity doomed to simply be a couple OOC threads for already running games? Me sad, miss this place much. :(

    Silent hill-esque

Yeah, it seemed to me they were sort of stuck for all time in that environment, then there was the sort of Mists of Ravenloft effect when people from the 'real world' were pulled in. I would reccomend getting ahold of a copy of Hero's of Horror or Ravenloft or both and skimming those for ideas.

    Planning a Game

Anyone around? If anyone is around I'm still up for a PbP game. Especially now that I found a very nice PbP site. Let me know here or e-mail me. Renfield

    Anyone? Anyone?

Hey, first time I've checked this sight in forever. Miss it. Too bad I had little to no luck getting a PbP thing set up. :-(
