    Since a poor save is (HD x 1/3) and a good save is ((HD x 1/2) + 2), I'd say that an average save would be exactly between the two ((HD x 5/12) + 1). Works out close to DrSpunj's, but I like fractions (they're neater). -B-

    No prob. The item I mentioned is a variation of the one that my Fighter/Wizard/Spellsword/Eldritch Knight has in one campaign. Throw in the ability from the Bow of True Strike, the wand-storing ability from a crossbow in the AaEG, the Ioun stone-storing ability from the Ioun Blade (I think)...

    Perhaps it is a reference to self-Bobbiting? IIRC, ability checks are considered rankless skill checks according to the SRD. I'd go against the whole taking 10 on attacks and saves, unless you want to remove a great deal of chance from the game. YMMV, though. -B-

    From the SRD: and Bold = emphasis mine. From this I deduce (perhaps wrongly) that a 1 on a caster level check against SR is an automatic failure. If not, well, it makes a damn sensible house rule, IMHO.
