I have a similar feeling whenever the subject of guns in D&D comes up. People who accept all manner of unreality suddenly get all hung up on realism.

I'm mostly ambivalent about the new design. The retro art is amusing since I'm drinking a throwback Mountain Dew now, so it's all meta and stuff.

I wouldn't say I felt constrained. It was presented as humans only and I had a choice of either playing in that game or not. I guess it comes down to if you view a game as 'D&D' or 'a fantasy game using the D&D rules'.

I find an aircraft grade aluminium alloy preferable for my headwear needs. It holds up better in the event of a sky falling mishap.

How can one forget Coober Pedy? Locally in Massachusetts we have Marblehead, which I think players would roll their eyes at, as well as Gay Head, Cummington and Athol for the amusingly juvenile. In a fantasy vein, we have Blackstone and Zoar.

Played 1st and 2nd editions. Quite a lot of fond memories there. We certainly played it as out there as possible. We were not too concerned with any notions of hard science. Not too sure about the newest incarnation. I think my nostalgia filter would get in the way.

I'll pick the Essentials line up, and may or may not incorporate it in to my 4E game. I'd like it if it were something that my non-gamer friends could easily pick up and enjoy. I also like to fling spoons.

True, maybe I should just go with it, enjoyable as it was, but honestly the shot of the dragon with the rock sticking out of the dragon's head struck me as odd. I don't think that stars or little birds circling its head Tex Avery style would have looked out of place.
