Tome of Magic - Using Demon Lords as Vestiges?

Make sure if you do re-tool it to share with ENWorld for those of us too busy to do so ourselves - please?

    Sell me on Psionics

I'd recommend the Psionics Handbook by Green Ronin. It uses a skill system as opposed to "another name for magic"-style that the 3.5 psionics is. I think it's fun and flavorful and not overpowering.

    Ravenloft 3.5: yea or nay

Regardless of whether or not you actually plan to RUN Ravenloft, those books are chock full of ideas of how to bring mood, setting and ambience to your game. They came out with some really good books, and if you find yourself really liking the setting - it's pretty easy to find some of the...

Ever just redo a players character sheet?

I keep my players character sheets because frankly - I cannot count on them to remember to bring them. Not only that, I keep track of their characters via http://campaign-blog.com/ and post links to their sheets from the "Campaign Website", so that they may look at them at any time. So - I...

    Isle of Dread - Maps

I've got this X1: The Isle of Dread module that has a map in it too I thought it was great when I first got it, but I haven't taken a look at it since I shelved it 8 years ago or so. I'll have to dig it out.

    how campaigns begin...

Wherever I am, nobody seems to want to run games. So I don't ask the players what they want - I start something that I think will be fun, figure out how much time I need, and go with it. I let the players choose whether or not they want to play. That doesn't mean I don't take suggestions or...

DM needs advice on AoW timeline

IME - The Champion Games are "better" than the Hall of Harsh Reflections, and felt more tied to the story than Hall did. Barring that - why not give your player's a choice between them, in game. Wouldn't be too hard to tweak Zyrxog and his minions to abduct some entrants to the games or...

DM's: Are you afraid to kill PC's because of how players might react?

The story is better if the characters die. If we're playing a game, and nobody can die - then what's the point? We might as well remove the rules and just sit around and tell a story. Death means that they actually HAVE to think, and that I'm not going to save their butts. I don't go out of...

Is an "all caster" party feasible?

Bah - 4 clerics = the win. Someone mentioned Clerics + Elementals. It's not just that. Certain clerics can turn quite a few things. Clerics with the elemental domains don't just turn elementals. According to Wizards and Customer Support - Water Creatures are all creatures with the water...

    What module are you running?

Wednesday: Shackled City - group is at the Test of the Smoking Eye, and about to complete it, along with the reward of some much needed downtime. Sunday: The Night Below - About halfway through the second book, this one is being modified with Gates of Firestorm Peak and the Dungeon adventure...

    Lost Room

Didn't think of D20 Modern - I thought of Unknown Armies: http://www.unknown-armies.com Factions, magic items, backstabbing, disappearing people - it's all there. Check it out sometime. It's got this whole Occult Underground setup that really gives the feel that Lost Room gave me. Also -...

Catalog of discussions on the "younger classics" adventures.

Tons of interest. I'm the DM, that's my job. One thing is that I didn't get started on D&D until 3.0, but I definitely owned the 2nd Edition books, loved reading them, and really wanted to run a game. The barrier of entry with my friends was too high. Now - I've been utilizing old school...

The Night Below - your experiences?

Currently running it on the fly 3.5 conversion. It's playing well. I have three players: Human Enchanter Halfling Druid Gnome Soulborn I made Snagger into a Cleric NPC, bumped Jeleneth up to Book 2, made some other changes that suit the campaign world, and according to my players, have...

D&D d20 Idea for Clerics - Spontaneously Cast Domain Spells Only

In my campaign - Clerics spontaneously cast their domain spells, and don't spontaneously cast healing / inflict. The domain slot can be used for a healing or inflict spell, doesn't matter what your alignment is. In every game I've run, regardless of rules or whatever - the majority of healing...

Mass Combat for E.N. Publishing's War of the Burning Sky

To be honest, I think if you want something that doesn't require a lot of learning, Cry Havoc does it. The thing that requires time about Cry Havoc is building the stat blocks. The rest of the combat feels exactly like the D&D combat. You use miniatures, you have the same actions - instead...

Cheap (But Not Used/Pre-Owned) Nintendo DS Lite

I worked at a video game store during High School. Does that mean much? Probably not, but here's the model I noticed (this being 5 years ago) - I'm pretty positive it hasn't changed much. Generally: System - MSRP says $149.95. Store pays $148.95. This is almost across the board (walmart and...

    Player Complaints About Pre-Gens

I ran the Delve on Gameday, and I had three camps of people: 1) "20th level? Hellz yeah! Let's rock! Oh man! Awesome!" 2) "I've never played 20th level before" 3) "Archmage without shape spell? Where's Gate? Why don't I have freedom of movement to negate their grapple? I could pwn this Dragon...

WotC Game Day - Anyone play?

I also ran the Virtual Dungeon Delve at Critical Hit Games in Coralville, Iowa. I ran the Black Dragon through 4 or 5 sessions, then got bored and yelled that it was time for the Red Dragon. The Black Dragon was hard, but most of the groups handled it well. The Red was ridiculous - it was...

    Do reviews matter?

Yes If Reviewer X says they like something, and I buy it and like it, I pay more attention to Reviewer X. If it happens again, I pay more attention. Trends like that mean they may have my same play-style, which means I'm more comfortable dropping a lot of money.
