    Questions on paper model products

The only problem I can foresee with World Works Games would be if you bought one of their older 1.5" sets and needed 1" sets. Otherwise, they are incredible. I own many of their sets, and mix and match things quite freely. They also are incredibly supportive on their forums of "kitbashing"...

    Making some miniatures

I'm trying to think of a good way to make an Avolakia miniature (3.5e MM2). Here's a pic. I was going to start with another D&D miniature and build it off of that, since I've done that before. I was thinking of using the Immolith, chopping off part of its head to make three "fangs" and carving...

What 20th Level Monsters Still Need to be Converted?

Hey Jester - Dunno what levels they would be, but any ideas for some of the "good" creatures of editions past? Ki-Rin? Lammasu? Moon Dog (probably low level) Just a thought

Visions of Avarice trivializes melee encounters?

Hey, here's some suggestions for "fixing" this spell: Remove the immobilize effect Change the immobilize to dazed (end of monster's turn) Have it affect creatures instead of enemies. Honestly, I find it weird that the two 5th level dailies that are some of the only examples of Wizard's...

Grasp of the Grave - are miss and hit virtually the same?

Grasp of the Grave is indeed powerful. I allowed it in my game, but have yet to see it come into play. If you look at its closest spell of equality (WEB), it's betters, hands down. Then, look at Keterys' comparison of dailies. Web was ranked easily one of the worst at a C or C+ or something...

Thoughts on my 4E anniversary, E1 and Paragon levels

Thanks MerricB - I actually read a couple of your posts on why it sucked. I've run Age of Worms previously in 3.5, and was already working on those exact problems you had. Then 4e came out, and I haven't really looked back. Yeah, it ended up that way. Re: Magic Items: Honestly, I got this...

Thoughts on my 4E anniversary, E1 and Paragon levels

Hey Merric - Just wanted to chime in too. My 4e Age of Worms game started on year ago, on June 6th, when the books came out here stateside. Right now, the PC's are 8th level, and are about to hit 9th. We've had some ups and downs, with people both using 3e speak in the game along with...

    Social mechanics example

We play with a social mechanic at my table that goes as follows: You roll the die. Based on what you roll is how you play the conversation. But in reality, the reason I have this house rule is because I got tired of people rolling Diplomacy, and then going on and trying to "recover" using...

    June Blockbusters

I saw Moon at SXSW this year! Man am I glad I went to SXSW . . . We kept making jokes into it that Space Oddity was going to start playing during it, or something stupid like that (Duncan Jones = David Bowie's son). ANYWAY - Moon is good. It's about a joe-schmoe in Space who maintains a...

    July Blockbusters

Yeah, there's explosions, and while they're grand and great for the movie, they're not what drives the action in any scene. For example - one of the tense moments in the movie is when the main guy is attempting to disarm a IED in a car by a school. The rest of his squad is watching for snipers...

    D&D 4E A 4E Combat Encounter - Round by Round Descritpion

Delgar - I am very interested in both a sample Paragon and sample Epic tier combat. Could you possibly do both? If you have access to the character builder, you might actually try using the same characters, but level'd up.

    2009 Booth Volunteers Sign-Up

Hey, I subbed in for PirateCat last year for the Friday AM slot, had a blast, and will totally do this again! I'll take Thursday, 9:30 to 12:00

    July Blockbusters

I saw the Hurt Locker already at SXSW. It was pretty good. It's about a group of army specialists that take care of IED's. It's definitely a suspense-filled movie. The action isn't over the top or anything either - very gritty and realistic. I think most everyone in the audience liked it...

    Online Character Database

I desperately want some sort of online character database though. Something simple that I can link to friends to show a character through a web interface!

    freeport poster is gorgeous!

If you wanted to start out running 4e Freeport, but needed some extra pirate-y goodness, I think Scarrport is a pretty good product to pick up. I plan on getting the companion too, but Scarrport is out now. RPGNow Link

    We just finished Night Below

Night Below is truly an epic game. I was Refined Bean's DM, and although I side-tracked the game quite a bit, the entire thing was phenomenal to run in 3.5. I wish it was converted to 4e though. Maybe I will find the time to do it someday.

How many DM's have actually run a published Adventure Path?

I've ran Shackled City start to finish twice now, in 3.5. I've run Age of Worms before (3.5), and am currently running it again (4e) It's been less brutal, but still challenging, in 4e. If I ever ran 3.5 / Pathfinder again, it'd have to be heavily modified. I realize they switched from doing...

    Any good adventures in Ravenloft?

I really liked Feast of Goblyns, Castles Forlorn (Boxed Set), Night of the Walking Dead, The Shadow Rift and Neither Man Nor Beast. I've run all of those very successfully in one form or another. Also, a nice touch was in their Children of the Night series, there were short vignettes detailing...

    Free RPG Day 2009

I don't think that's Free RPG Day's fault though - sounds like the stores involved need to organize events around the Free Stuff, honestly. Since it's an event drawing people in, makes sense to me that if I owned the store, I would want something to get people to stick around.

    The price of things

Ritual Costs: I've been doing something where the ritual costs: ritual level * caster level * 10 That's just off the top of my head though, and isn't based on anything. Magic Item Store: I would ask your players if they want to play D&D: The Economic Simulation or some variant of D&D where the...
