    D&D 5E (2024) Githzerai Psion? Thri-kreen Psion? Where's My Psion?

I'm also of the idea that generally Bruce Cordell had the right ideas the 2nd time around with Psionics with the 3.5e Expanded Psionics Handbook. It was successful enough that all spellcasting classes 5e stole one of the big things that Psionic classes got in 3.5e, which was being able to...

    D&D 5E (2024) Githzerai Psion? Thri-kreen Psion? Where's My Psion?

Definitely talking about previous editions. Especially 2e psionics. If a DM has to learn about the 5 psionic attack and defense modes because of just one player or MTHAC0, that's already grounds for banning.

    D&D 5E (2024) Githzerai Psion? Thri-kreen Psion? Where's My Psion?

Most DMs who don't want to learn a new completely new system will ban it. I think that's a primary reason why Psionics gets banned. I think designers want their new things to be used by many groups, so I feel that Psionics should be "friendly" to casually invested DMs.

D&D 5E (2024) Are the new default alignments of Goblins (CN) and Kobolds (N) more consistent with their current portrayals?

I guess a campaign could go more likely go like this: There's some trouble with Goblin raiders PCs discover they're part of a Hobgoblin invasion force PCs find that the Goblins aren't being treated well by the Hobgoblins PCs befriend some Goblins, and the Goblins ally with the PCs to overthrow...

    D&D 5E (2024) Githzerai Psion? Thri-kreen Psion? Where's My Psion?

I've constantly argued that Psionics should just use what's in the already existing spell system. And that's exactly what the Psionic subclasses of Sorcerer and Warlock do. Burdening a DM with having to learn a new system just because one player wants to play a psionic character is not...

D&D 5E (2024) Are the new default alignments of Goblins (CN) and Kobolds (N) more consistent with their current portrayals?

I don't think they're too complicated to make as a PC species. Amphibious: You can breathe in water or air Leap: You can leap 30 feet once per round using 10 feet of your movement Speak with Frogs and Toads: You can communicate with frogs and toads by speaking to them. Speed: Your walking speed...

D&D 5E (2024) Are the new default alignments of Goblins (CN) and Kobolds (N) more consistent with their current portrayals?

And Bullywugs also got an alignment change too, they're Neutral now. I think most people had a hard time seeing them as evil too.

D&D 5E (2024) Are the new default alignments of Goblins (CN) and Kobolds (N) more consistent with their current portrayals?

I noticed the alignments of Genies have changed as well, one problem with Efreet especially was that there might have been too much of an overlap with Devils when they were LE as they already look a lot like them. Of course just because Efreet and Dao are Neutral now, doesn't necessarily mean...

D&D 5E (2024) Are the new default alignments of Goblins (CN) and Kobolds (N) more consistent with their current portrayals?

I noticed that some monsters in the new MM have gotten different default alignments. Most noticeable are Goblins being Chaotic Neutral (formerly Neutral Evil) and Kobolds being Neutral (formerly Lawful Evil) now. We've certainly seen the shift of Goblins becoming an unruly trickster type fey...

    D&D 5E (2024) Where to next, WotC?

Having more themed rules expansions is good, something like Fizban's or Bigby's, a mix of DM and Player material around some subject. I think they should try some of the more interesting and unusual Magic the Gathering settings. Of course they should try giving Dark Sun or Spelljammer (a lot...

    Second person plural pronoun

Those from the southern states use "All Y'all" which is the closest thing English has to words like Vous or Ustedes.

    D&D 5E (2024) Githzerai Psion? Thri-kreen Psion? Where's My Psion?

I don't think the Ardent is wide enough to be it's own class, I think there'll just be a College of Ardor Bard subclass. Psion definitely could have 6 or more subclasses, since there were 6 disciplines: Telepathy Disciple, Psychometabolism Disciple and so on.

D&D 5E (2024) Grade Knowledge Domain, Green, Yellow, Red?

A Knowledge Cleric doesn't need to put any points into Intelligence because once they're 6th level, any failure will just use their Wisdom score as the check.

D&D 5E (2024) Above the Table Interview with Jeremy Crawford.

As someone who is very attached to 2e Planescape, I really do prefer the 5e redesign in look. As for them being Celestials, also fine as some non-good creatures from the Astral Plane get categorized as that. Yes, I know it's because Outsider as a type doesn't exist in 5e.

There's also the strange case of the Asuras in D&D, most associate Asuras with Fiends because they're Fiends in Hinduism. Except that Asuras of D&D who generally appear as flame-winged angels with bird feet, are more based off of the Persian/Zoroastrian interpretation, they probably could be...

D&D 5E (2024) Above the Table Interview with Jeremy Crawford.

Cherubim are sort of covered by some of the Archons. You also have to remember that Rilmani are Celestials now, and are more interesting in their liquid metal construct-like forms. Though they've always been the paragons of the Outlands rather than the Upper Planes. And then there's whatever...

D&D 5E (2024) Grade College of the Moon, Green, Yellow, Red?

Probably should use "Fochlucan Lyrist" (a Bard/Druid prestige class from 3e) somehow in the name, since that's what the intentions of the subclass remind of. I think it's abilities are mostly good, though there could be another stronger push to the Druid, and yes Tales of Mirth does step on the...

D&D 5E (2024) Spellfire Sorceror what did you score it Green/Yellow/Red?

For me it doesn't make sense how Crown of Spellfire is not tied to the Innate Sorcery ability that Sorcerers already have.
