    D&D 5E (2014) Solasta 2 Announced!!!

Solasta was in some ways about the Reptilian plot to take over the world, the Soraks are shape-shifting lizard people after all.

D&D General Muscular Neutrality (thought experiment)

Looking into the Paragons of the Neutral alignment the Rilmani, they are framed as being interested in balancing the different forces across the multiverse. They might be motivated by how their home plane The Outlands might be affected if the cosmic forces weren't balanced. Seeing as they have a...

    D&D 5E (2014) Solasta 2 Announced!!!

I don't think it's that different for species, the first game only used the most basic subclasses of each class in the game and they came up with their own subclasses from everything else. They also invented a bunch of their own spells, I remember there being some really effective 5th level...

D&D General Dark Sun as a Hopepunk Setting

4e had the Dray as Dragonborn, they'd probably try to continue that in a 5e version. Half-giants as Goliaths has been done before, but Dark Sun has Humanoid-headed Giants and Beast-headed Giants, so maybe they'd tweak Goliaths to reflect the Beast-heads and Humanoid-heads as Giant Ancestry...

    D&D 5E (2014) Solasta 2 Announced!!!

I'm looking forward to this one, though I know it can't top BG3 I think it'll still be enjoyable. I liked that in first game the PCs talked amongst themselves and had their own banter despite all being custom characters. It did put some importance on background, which is more significant now...

Wizards of the Coast's Archetype Entertainment to Publish Exodus TTRPG Based on Upcoming Exodus Video Game

Mass Effect is influential enough that even Star Trek has taken some influences from Mass Effect, despite Star Trek influencing Mass Effect in the first place. But I'd think that Exodus would probably have stronger Mass Effect influences, since it's made by people who worked on Mass Effect.

D&D General Dark Sun as a Hopepunk Setting

I think Dark Sun was very much influenced by Mad Max when it first came out. I really liked the recent movies of that franchise (Fury Road and Furiosa), even if they weren't exactly blockbusters. I guess we need a big fight on a moving caravan pulled Inixes, against a bunch of raiders...

D&D General The History of Alignment: Why D&D Has the Nine-Point Alignment System 4 UR Memes

The White Wolf games generally had personalities types as central to it's characters, but some of the World of Darkness games sort of had 3 or 4 forces a lot like D&D, it was generally something Order/Stasis/The Weaver and the opposed Chaos/The Wyld with a corrupted Entropy/The Wyrm trying to...

D&D General “‘Scantily Clad and Well Proportioned’: Sexism and Gender Stereotyping in the Gaming Worlds of TSR and Dungeons & Dragons.”

Star Trek: Picard had a Vulcan named Krinn who was played by Kirk Acevedo, who rationalized and came to the very logical conclusion about why he should be a gangster.

D&D General “‘Scantily Clad and Well Proportioned’: Sexism and Gender Stereotyping in the Gaming Worlds of TSR and Dungeons & Dragons.”

Yes it could be that, but I've also seen an expansion of that same image where Elves and Dwarves are added into the mix. And the Female Dwarf is identical to the Male Dwarf, while the Male Elf is depicted as looking identical to the Female Elf.

D&D General “‘Scantily Clad and Well Proportioned’: Sexism and Gender Stereotyping in the Gaming Worlds of TSR and Dungeons & Dragons.”

I haven't seen too many examples in D&D art, but I've certainly seen examples of sexy female Orcs in art. Definitely something that became more prevalent once World of Warcraft came around. And most examples of an Orc woman she's dressed almost the same way they depicted other women in fantasy...

D&D General “‘Scantily Clad and Well Proportioned’: Sexism and Gender Stereotyping in the Gaming Worlds of TSR and Dungeons & Dragons.”

I don't like how they have so far kept the Devil-centric design for most Tieflings in 5e, with the exception of 2 examples of legacy 2e Planescape characters (Factol Rhys and Sly Nye).

D&D General “‘Scantily Clad and Well Proportioned’: Sexism and Gender Stereotyping in the Gaming Worlds of TSR and Dungeons & Dragons.”

While I'm fully Asian in background, I don't think there's much of an power imbalance for someone who's partially East Asian and European in background that lives in a western country. There definitely still is the "not fitting in" thing. But that can be for someone like me who's an Asian...

D&D General “‘Scantily Clad and Well Proportioned’: Sexism and Gender Stereotyping in the Gaming Worlds of TSR and Dungeons & Dragons.”

I know things are better now with mini choices, but looking back I really find it funny that a character I played was depicted on the board as a Blood Angel Space Marine, when that's certainly the opposite of what my character was.

D&D General “‘Scantily Clad and Well Proportioned’: Sexism and Gender Stereotyping in the Gaming Worlds of TSR and Dungeons & Dragons.”

I do like some those old pictures, but I know it's never been in the right context for D&D and how things would actually go down. Like maybe it's more like some adventurers saying "and here I was like in my trusty armored underwear and greatsword fighting off 30 orcs after the last night we...

Planescape The Planar Trade Consortium as a campaign villain

I guess that works initially better than the Pursuit of the MacGuffin which will probably come into play later.

Planescape The Planar Trade Consortium as a campaign villain

He could definitely disguise himself as a Stefanie or any other variant of that name, an average Oni is fairly charismatic to pull that off with their shapeshifting ability and Estaban is an exceptional Oni who will "level up" as the campaign advances. I figured that there should be some...

Planescape The Planar Trade Consortium as a campaign villain

Initially they built their wealth importing anything, they started in Sigil and Sigil doesn't produce much in the way of raw materials as everything needs to be imported from other planes. But after that they've built enough wealth they don't need to be generic importer. Though Sigil relies on...

D&D General Dinosaurs in your campaigns

For the "Loc Ness Monster" should they be an Awakened Plesiosaurus or a Druid that just likes to be something like a Plesiosaurus.

D&D General Dinosaurs in your campaigns

I've always found it amusing that Dinosaurs have been ever present in D&D. But I'm wondering how common or rare are they in your campaigns, for something that's extinct in our world. Are they everywhere, or only live in secluded places? Based on some more recent findings about Dinosaurs, do...
