    Prestige class for bard/swashbuckler

I'll second this if you're doing a maritime campaign. Not only do you get fighter BAB, but you also get a very nifty charge ability allowing you to charge over obstacles and the like. In addition you get bonuses to sailing and the ability to give yourself and allies bonuses to attack and damage...

Sanctum Spell - why so great?

Yup, I have the book. I was being sarcastic, but I do appreciate the fact that you bothered to answer my question. :) I intensely dislike the Illumians, personally. I can't think of any reason I would allow them in my campaigns so...I never need worry about Sanctum Spell abuse as far as...

How Long Do Your Campaigns Last?

Well, I don't feel so bad then. The campaign I've been running since late 2001 seems to be taking forever to finish up, but that's because we can only get together once or twice a month. Only gaming together three times a month sounds heavenly to me!

    Fade into Violence

It obviously works best for small characters with quick draw or when fighting larger, powerful foes (BBEG). The only real benefit I can see in this regard is for roguish types (with some version of sneak attack) who uses this ability to gain an advantage of position, perhaps to allow allies to...

    D&D Rules Compendium (Hardcover) - October 2007

Basically quoting this because I think it bears repeating. I'm certainly not interested in any collection of classes, races and feats, because chances are I've got the majority of them already. Having actual rules in one place (such as expanded environmental rules from the various books in that...

Poll: How much 3rd party do you use?

I went with 25% 3rd party material, although currently most of that is AEG and Paizo Publishing (not counting those it would be closer to 5%). I've just purchased the Wilderands and related materials, however, and that will no doubt see use in the near future. I've bought a handful of other...

Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser's Nehwon and Wilderlands of High Fantasy - Compare?

Ah, I wish more folks read these stories. I just discovered them a few years ago myself (thank you, SFBC), but I've recommended them to pretty much everyone I know...and yet no one has bothered to give them a try. Their loss, I suppose. I've read all six "Swords" collections! Fafhrd and the...

How much do you want dungeon crawls?

Put me down for 20%. Almost went with 10%. I just don't care much for dungeons for the sake of dungeons.

Only one demi-human race: which one?

Other: the Killoren from Races of the Wild. I wish they'd been the featured race instead of the flying buggers. The campaign would be centered on man's ordered world v/s the killoren's chaotic wilderness. As the Killoren have different aspects, humans might mistake them for three separate races...

Vote On My Samurai (third edit)

I like it, but I didn't buy OA/Rokugan and pretty much every book AEG made on the subject for nothing. If it was between this and the one in Complete Warrior, however, it would definitely be this. Good job! Also, this is one case where I don't mind an edge over the Fighter. In any campaign...

QFT. And...I've lost respect for at least 65.79% of you at last count. ;)

Would you play D&D in a public place?

Already have, but that was years ago. I'd be less inclined to do so today.

City Survivor - round 10! (Final Three)

*sigh* Sigil must go. I mean, really. If the giant doughnut hovering over a phallic spire wins this thing, I think I'm going to burn my Planescape boxed set.

    Sci-Fi Channel's "Grendel": Quadruple Crossbow???

Unfortunately, this is true. I managed to sit through the entire thing, which I usually can't do with Sci-Fi Channel film (except Man With The Screaming Brain, because, hey...I'd watch Bruce Campbell paint a house). However, "better than the average Sci-Fi channel original" isn't much of an...

Sanctum Spell - why so great?

Sanctum Spell is a great feat for a ship's mage, assuming the DM allows you to consider the ship you serve on as your sanctum (and will allow you to "reattune" to another vessel if something happens to the one you're on). If you're in a swashbuckling/maritime campaign you're going to face...

    Sci-Fi Channel's "Grendel": Quadruple Crossbow???

Hahaha! Well, that made my evening. A quadruple crossbow with a pair of jagged bayonets and, yes, a scope. And it pretty much shot out orbs of fire. Or something. It was ridiculous. On the other hand, the film as a whole was...well, it was just awful.
