Great inspiration, by the way! (I still want the dvds.)
Unfortunately, Eric couldn't use many of the Yellowbellied Coward abilities because he's wearing a breastplate (medium armor).
I just noticed the Slippery Fighter ability is almost identical to the Prone Attack feat from Complete Warrior.
The only differences are that Slippery Fighter requires light armor or no armor (and light load or less) while Prone Attack can be used regardless of armor. Also, Prone Attack allows...
I suppose my big one is "Save the world from powerful dark evil force." There's always a Sauron or Tharizdun who never actually shows up to kick butt, but has an ever expanding influence in the world. Inevitably the heroes' quest to defeat this force (or at least hold it a bay) ends up being the...
I'm not terribly fond of custom BAB progressions. I prefer the Wizard BAB. But...I still can't square the +4 BAB entry requirement with such a low BAB progression. Or in your case, a penalty. The fact that the prestige class requires a certain amount of BAB in order to lose BAB just doesn't seem...
Quite a few of these I don't recognize, myself...
Agreed.
I would agree, but I can see the argument. What gets lost in all of the action, however, is that Indy is a professor and thinks that all these fantastic relics he's after belong in a museum or in the hands of fellow archaeologists...
Changing the voting to best instead of worst at the end was probably not the smartest move. There's no way to really know how many people just reflexively voted as they had every other round. Oh, well.
This is the one I don't quite get Exemplars of Evil: Deadly Foes to Vex Your Heroes? Basically a rogues gallery type book filled with pre-made baddies? I dunno...
Finally, I can vote for the PHBII! I like the book. I've used the book more than anything else of 2006, but I don't think it's the best book of the year. Much of it is off-balanced and wonky.
I prefer FCII: Tyrants of the Nine Hells to FCI: Hordes of the Abyss, actually. Both are great books...
I think there are going to end up being at least two versions. Trav, the originator, wants this for fighter and warrior henchmen (where a cross-class skill of 8 is poison) and I'm more likely to use it for roguish characters (where BAB is poison). I'm more likely to drop the BAB altogether and...
It might be at that! I'll have to check into it. Trav was right in saying that there are a lot of special abilities crammed into five levels, but with Skittish (few prestige classes actually give you penalities) and all the conditional modifiers, poor BAB, I think it pretty much evens out...
I keep moving things around for my own version, but I'm never quite satisfied. Latest version:
LV BAB Fort Ref Will Special
1 +0 +0 +2 +0 Left For Dead, Panic Attack 1/day, Skittish
2 +1 +0 +3 +0 Get ‘Em Off Me!, Run Away!
3 +1 +1 +3 +1...
I'm about to collapse, but here's what I'm look at now:
LV BAB Fort Ref Will Special
1 +0 +0 +2 +0 Panic Attack 1/day, Run Away!, Skittish
2 +1 +0 +3 +0 Get ‘Em Off Me!, Left For Dead
3 +1 +1 +3 +1 Hasty Retreat, Improved Speed +10, Panic...
I tried that, but I don't think it works very well. Keep in mind, I'm not using Vanish or Chicken or Improved Bull Rush. And now the BAB is pretty pathetic (but on par with the Fortune's Friend PrC from Complete Scoundrel). I knocked Distract Opponent down to once a day and it can only be used...
I can't leave this class alone! *heh* I like some of your changes, too, Sigurd. Particularly the "Special" requirement and the removal of Improved Bull Rush. It's lead me to this:
Prerequisites:
Alignment: Any non-lawful.
Base Attack Bonus: +4
Skills: Bluff (4 ranks), Escape Artist (4 ranks)...
