Ah, that makes sense. It seemed silly the other (incorrect) way, where a multiple-damage-type spell would actually be weaker, with more opportunities to resist the damage. Thanks for the clarification. For the record, where exactly in the PHB or DMG is this spelled out?

Sorry for the thread resurrection. Having read the aforementioned Dragon article and the relevant entry in Arcane Power, how exactly does one get a paragon or epic familiar. Is it just a matter of retraining the Familiar feat while being at or above the requisite level?

So, Frank, having fun playing thread resurrection? Seems like you're dredging up quite a few year-dead threads (I counted at least three). And, lest this post be *entirely* off topic, I don't prefer dinosaurs in my D&D campaigns at all.

I haven't received my copy yet (it's an anniversary present), but given how busy I am with life (work, kids, etc.) I plan to use the pre-made stuff in the book as much as possible. I may, depending on exactly what's in each mini adventure, repurpose the maps to fit my own campaign. Time will tell.

I ordered two sets, and once I've played around with them some and get a better feel for how many I'll need for a given night of gaming, I may pick up another set or two.

I'm also interested in this, but I'd like to know more about the plot arc and such. Is there somewhere I can read a synopsis of the campaign (even the 3.x version)? I'm not looking for a review; I'm interested in knowing if it's the kind of plot my players and I would enjoy.

If you hang a poster map on the wall, doesn't that kind of make it so you can't use it? Perhaps I wasn't very clear...I mean the sort of grid-based maps that came with DDM, not the kind of geographical map that comes with the FRCS.
