    A more martial ranger

I like it. Not a huge power boost, but I like it.

    Flexibility versus 'Power' tradeoff

The problem with 4d6 in order is that if you want to be a fighter, and your first roll is 7, you are out of luck. If you don't prechoose your class and race, rolling 4d6 in order isn't really any different than arranging because you can just choose a race/class combo that optimizes whatever you...

Reach for a medium-sized character with a small-sized spiked chain

Say a human picks up a small-sized spiked made for a halfling. He can wield it as a medium weapon at -2 to hit. Does he still get reach? Could you dual-wield small-sized spiked chains? Or how about a small-glaive in one hand and a light weapon in the other. That way you would have reach all...

    Saving Throw issue with DM

I guess that is one option.

Going to church? Don't forget your sawed-off shotgun!

An entire thread about shotguns at churches and no mention of shotgun marriages. Tsk. Tsk.

How Many Boosters/Cases Do You Buy Of Each Set?

I've found it best to buy an entire set online. I used to augment that with a few boosters for extra commons, but now I usually get a set with extra commons. I still buy a booster or two just to have some kind of randomness involved.

    When?

Hey, that would be fantastic! You rock! And of course I'm a subscriber. I signed up the day I saw the subscription announced.

Which of these options for a campaign?

I'm ready to start a new campaign. The idea is that the party are reflections of the greatest heroes of the past. They start low-level as they are just reflections, but they should be of the greatest potential. So for stats, I'm thinking either: (1) Every stat is an 18. Or (2) The ridiculous...

    When?

I'm ready to start my new campaign next week. When is episode one due out? I really wanted to read it over the weekend.

Which class is the most useless?

I'm not a big fan of the bard because the archetype isn't appropriate for all genres. I would prefer a leader type minus the singing magical skills. The other vote would be for monk, for basically the same reason.

Anyone else having trouble getting the files?

Yes, I had this problem too. If you click on the picture of the product instead of the text below the product, you can get to the download page.

Vote On My Samurai (third edit)

Why remove concentration as a class skill? See monks. Why have heavy armor proficiency? How can we save 4+int bonus skill points per level?

Vote On My Samurai (third edit)

I have a problem with Deadly Strike. First, I don't see Samurai lurking around waiting three rounds to kill someone, but second, the DC is off. It should be DC 10 + half the samurai’s class level + the samurai’s Charisma modifier. Otherwise, seems okay. I might have dropped the Will save to...

    What ruins a campaign?

In my experience, DM disatisifaction brought on by constant player whining has ended more campaigns than any other two causes combined.

    Marshal in play

The real problem is that it gives out way too much for one level (+Cha to all init and dex rolls for eveyone within 60' at first level), and not much for lots of levels. I would at least rule that the bonus is +1/level, max +Cha, or you will only see dips of a few levels.

The Rejection of "Balance" in an RPG

I don't understand those that dislike balance. If you don't want balance in your games, give one player +4 to every stat, or let him play a gestalt while everyone else plays normal characters. Give out extra feats or abilities or whatever. It is so much easier to unbalance a game than to...

    What makes a Product Good?

No offense at all. Happy to start a discussion.

Perhaps it's time to stop the dracophilia

I disagree: Dragon Magic was quite good, albeit with limited audience. I enjoyed it and read it cover to cover and wanted to start a campaign using it (or at least a character using it). Race of the Dragon on the other hand was quite weak. Three might be one too many books (one for the DM and...

2006 WotC D&D Product Survivor - Player's Handbook II is the sole survivor!

Yeah, I suppose since this is a popularity contest, the book with "wider appeal" should win. But "wider appeal" should not be confused with "good". PHBII of course has "wider appeal" than Race of Anything or the Complete Anything because PHBII covers everything. But I don't think it did it...
