    Need help with Cars

Also, Porsche 911 (sports coupe), which you already mentioned in your 60's section, was pretty iconic through till... now.

I'm having a love affair with GUMSHOE

So glad I didn't read this thread before the NBA game you ran at Gencon! I bought ToC last year, but couldn't really get the feel for it from reading the book. That was part of the reason I wanted to play in your game (the other being that I had so much fun the last time). If I didn't have so...

    Skyping In

That's because he lives in the future! We've had 1 player skyping in for D&D and other games for the last 4 years. He rolls dice at his end, and we roll at ours, and just call out the results. When he has run the games, he's used vtt software. When someone local runs the game, we just point...

White Dwarf: The First 100 issues. A Read-Through and Review.

I don't usually enjoy cartoons in RPG magazines, but I loved Travellers!

Invited into Call of Cthulu, have some questions!

That's a nice description of an archetypal CoC game. In the game I'm playing, we've actually survived quite a while, but this is due to a bit of luck and deciding to run away at the right time. Of course, our characters are slowly descending into madness...

Invited into Call of Cthulu, have some questions!

Hmm, though both are Role Playing Games, CoC is a very different experience than D&D. I love both, but I have a friend who doesn't like CoC because he just hates his character getting weaker (in terms of SAN generally declining) the more it is played. You can download a quickstart copy of the...

    New party: tavern or backstory?

Ditto. Occassionally, I'll suggest something (I ran a 3E Dwarf campaign once where they were all family - including the adopted half-orc), but usually I'll just ask them to come up with some relationships and/or links between characters. Just enough to create a veneer of versimilitude.

    Are You Still Playtesting?

I don't believe that knowledge of the development is required to give useful feedback in a playtest. A playtester doesn't need to know how the rules were created, just what they are. Similarly with software testing, the tester doesn't need to know the low level design, they need to know the...

D&D 5E (2014) What do you want in the first D&D Next adventure path?

That made me think of Dino Pirates of Ninja Island (OK, I mis-remembered the title as "Dragon Pirates of Ninja Island", but close enough!)?

Losing Interest in the D&D Next Playtest?

Just as a runner doesn't need to be in front of the field for the whole race, only when they cross the finishing line, WotC doesn't need to be generating buzz continuously. I am sure that there will be much excitement when the next playtest material comes out. And the next, and the next. And...

White Dwarf: The First 100 issues. A Read-Through and Review.

I still remember the sadness I felt when the RPG stuff started disappearing from WD and Games Workshop (especially since I'd just gone to university in London and had Dalling Road almost on my doorstop). Great thread - brings back so many memories.

D&D 5E (2014) What do you want in the first D&D Next adventure path?

If they hired Tolkien, I'd be impressed (and slightly nervous about what rituals they had to use)! ;)

D&D 5E (2014) What do you want in the first D&D Next adventure path?

This. And this. I'd much rather have a toolbox with some small building blocks that I can combine and plug my own ideas into, than a monolithic AP.

    Are You Still Playtesting?

Yes. We've had 2 sessions so far, and will continue because we're enjoying it. We're also still getting the hang of some rules (I'm trying to ensure that we play the RAW, which means sometimes I have to check that I'm not applying a 3e rules), and I think it will be a while before we discover...

Losing Interest in the D&D Next Playtest?

Yeah, I've only managed two sessions so far - too much real life has interrupted our Monday nights. I managed to give feedback after one session, which was sooner than I would have liked, but better than not having any opportunity at all. Maybe it's because I work in IT development, but I'm...

Report posts you object to. Don't challenge mod calls in public. I'm sure they're in a list of rules, but I can't seem to find the link right now. edit: found the list of rules here, under Do Stuff->FAQ

Any one feel there is simply not enough to go on?

The letter with the playtest pack explicitly says "Our goal at this stage is to fine-tune the core rules. We’ll ask for your feedback on character creation, advancement, and adventure design rules in the coming months." So, they're not expecting you to playtest the character creation rules yet.

    The playtest has begun

I like that the Fighter character sheet is only 1 page long (the others are 2 pages).

What's the bet that ENW will get hammered?

Yup. CM seems to be a bit slow, too.

So the playtest packages coming online tonight at midnight or tomorrow?

Trevor Kidd confirmed on twitter that emails were going out now.
