    The playtest has begun

Ditto. Staggered release sounds plausible and sensible. I keep seeing new messages in my inbox, then find out that they're just replys to tweets... Oh, and Trevor Kidd just confirmed that emails are going out now: https://twitter.com/#!/Trevor_WotC

So the playtest packages coming online tonight at midnight or tomorrow?

To be honest, I'm expecting that it will be tomorrow before we see it.

So the playtest packages coming online tonight at midnight or tomorrow?

It's nearly lunchtime here in the UK, and I'm keeping one eye on my inbox as I work.

    D&D 5E (2014) Where is D&D Headed Next (Wired.com)

Yes, I noted its absence, too. I would guess that either they are concentrating on the "core" (that terrifically overloaded term!) of tabletop gaming, or maybe they are concentrating on talking about the core of TTG.

Hillside Games, Asheville: The Unfriendly Local Game Store

I keep reading the site name as Wyvern Stale dot com, so another name might not be a bad idea.

I'm hoping they may have them at Gencon.

Cool new airless tires from Michelin!

That active wheel system looks interesting. Reminds me a little of the first Porsche design, at the end of the 19th century, with electric motors in the wheels (and an IC engine to recharge the batteries - they had hybrids even back then!). We're seeing more and more cars with active...

Did the Brits do it better?

I ran a Pelinore campaign for a couple of years, and really enjoyed it. IIRC we converted from AD&D to RQ3 part way through. U1 stands out as being probably the most fun AD&D module I played in. But, our AD&D campaign was pretty much a Monty Haul affair when we played in the Slavers and...

Yeah, they filmed at Sycamore Gap, which is probably the most well known part of the wall. Sycamore Gap, Hadrian's Wall by lpmcc, on Flickr

Top 10 reasons every gamer should live in England

Glad you enjoyed yourself up here in the more civilised part of England. I presume you're referring to Travelling Man - just down the street from Forbidden Planet. I'm fortunate to work in the centre of Newcastle, so I might just pop over there to visit them both this lunchtime... :)

Wow - it doesn't feel like three years. My first Gencon was Gary's last - I wish I'd gone up to him and said hi.

It looks like anyone can win, but you have to make your own way to Texas where the cruise starts.

That was the new Jaguar XJ. The design on the monitor was just an exercise, sadly. I've seen one in the flesh, and I want to like it, but it just doesn't look much.

Last night's show was good. Ferrari F40 vs Porsche 959  James May in the Lunar Buggy 2 was fascinating. The Star In A Reasonably Priced Car bit probably won't make much sense to most of you, since it featured a British politician - but fair play to him for appearing on a show where he...
