? for all those that use a VTT program currently

We have 4 players in one room, and a remote DM in another room 100 miles away. The DM has 1 PC in his room, and we have two laptops, a microphone and a flat screen TV in our room. The DM communicates via video skype with one laptop placed on a table near the centre of the room. He can't see...

    Unhappy about the VT Announcement.

Also, parallel development can introduce configuration management overheads. For example, say you have multiple projects that utilise the same database. You have to control changes that you make to the database structure so that at some point you can apply all the changes to all the project...

The biggest issue with the new Character Builder:

I used to specialise in database performance tuning, and your experience doesn't surprise me. I've seen otherwise clever developers select the full contents of a table into an array, sort in memory and then discard the unwanted results. I explained to him about WHERE and SORT clauses in his...

The biggest issue with the new Character Builder:

My experience of working in the industry is that there is a huge span of skills and competence between developers, testers, managers, and all the other people that are involved in any IT project. I've seen projects succeed because the team was highly motivated, professional and focussed, and...

    Your DDI Account Status

I subscribed for 1 month about 6 months back, but we haven't played 4e since then, so I unsubscribed. I've decided to freeze our rules base at that point, so won't be subscribing again. D&D 4e is just one of a number of games that we rotate through, so I don't think it's worth it for me to...

    Online Character Builder is LIVE!

And yet it describes 50% of my group perfectly. Outside of a Monday night, they couldn't care less about D&D. Most groups I've played in have only had 1 or 2 "hardcore" gamers who buy magazines or browse gaming websites. They will very occassionally pop into a gaming store when they're in...

The biggest issue with the new Character Builder:

Yup. For the last 20 years. Coding, testing (including load testing), designing, architecting, config management, quality management, release management for a number of organisations of different types (internal depts, software houses, large-scale bespoke systems for customers).

So, how many are avoiding Essentials?

True. I make a point of not posting in them.

So, how many are avoiding Essentials?

I play a mix of games and currently my players are only part way through H2. 4e straight from the original 3 books (plus some of the power books I bought) seems to work fine for us. I bought a 1 month DDI subscription about 6 months back and downloaded the original CB & content. We will use...

    New Character Builder from WotC!

I disagree. WotC offered software for an amount of money, and I paid them that money and downloaded the software. No abuse whatsoever.

    Top Gear

Reliant Robin - that was one of my favourites, too. So silly, but I kept laughing at it. I love the Star In A Reasonably Priced Car. I don't know how they managed to get some of the A list stars to appear! Tom Cruise & Cameron Diaz was a classic! I enjoyed reading Hamster's autobiography -...

    Old School Hack

We now have a FAQ (taken from questions and answers that have come up on the forum) to accompany the playtest documents, because kiznit would prefer to spend some time with his family and real life, rather than constantly reformatting and updating the playtest documents :p

Which D&D Campaign World did you enjoy most?

Thieves' World. We played the original with AD&D, then RQ3, then played the Green Ronin version. I like the gritty urban setting, and the strange NPCs we came across.
