Going to GenCon Indy for the first time

Can't remember if it's been mentioned already, but it's hot & humid there. Take a few pairs of shorts and lightweight comfy shoes. Or kilts, if you're into that sort of thing...

Going to GenCon Indy for the first time

Yeah, I bought a backpack that could double as my carry-on luggage for the flight. I kept snacks, a bottle of water, dice, hand cleanser and my DSLR camera in it. I tried to keep it not too heavy.

12 year old girls love, 20+ year old people hate

There's no shame in that  I saw them at Wembly Arena.

    Charles Ryan leaving D&D (again!)

Best of luck relocating back home, and enjoy the wonderful British weather while you still can. Coincidentally, I just stumbled across a Millenium's End character sheet when I was tidying up this weekend. When is 3rd Edition due out? ;)

    Big countries vs. small countries

Heh! That was certainly my experience when I lived there for 5 years.

And, of course, you could hire a car :) I'm going to be travelling 300 miles to a friend's wedding in August, and it looks like we'll be flying then hiring a car for the weekend. Much nicer than the 5.5 hours drive each way predicted by Google maps (and probably cheaper, too).

    Big countries vs. small countries

I disagree - I think if you asked a bunch of British strangers at random, you'd find that they didn't really grasp the enormity of the US. I don't think that they would really have much idea about how different many of the States are from each other, either. To most Brits, the US is New York...

    Big countries vs. small countries

I live in the UK, but after driving from NYC to Tampa FL in 22 hours, I think I now have a good grasp of the scale of a country the size of the US!

    [TV] Doctor Who

I remember thinking she was smokin' in Moll Flanders, before she did ER. Checking IMDB, she was in a couple of episodes of Grange Hill when she was 17!

It doesn't get much worse than this!

I watched it with my girlfriend (who doesn't play, and has never seen a game being played), my best friend for 30+ years (and fellow gamer for much of that time, till he moved away) who I was visiting and his wife (not a gamer - but has seen us gaming) and we all howled with laughter! :D

    Fifa World Cup 2010

I agree - I think it's crazy in the biggest sport in the world that they don't have some sort of instant replay system - e.g.the captain can appeal a certain number of times per game, once the ball is out of play (like in tennis).

    Fifa World Cup 2010

It's not - there are many, many other international sports where the officials announce their decision plainly for everyone, e.g. cricket, tennis, rugby.

    Tales of the Golden Monkey

Thanks for the heads up - I loved the show when it was first broadcast. Looks like it will be available in Region 2 15th July :)

    Torchwood Series/Season 4 a go!

Lots of opportunity for Cthulhu-esque storylines, with the Normal For Norfolk locals.
