I've got the limited edition print run of Shoggoths Old Peculier, it's quite a funny and enjoyable story. I read it aloud to my wife, and she chuckled a few times, but not being a fan of Lovecraft (or Gaiman, for that matter), she didn't get it. Must be a geek thing...

There still are Trek classes being taught. Usually as Popular Culture courses or as part of American Studies programs. When my brother was at Evergreen State, there were several classes on The Simpsons, Star Trek, and other popular tv programs.
