    Die Roll Generator?

Even if the die roller is part of your site, you won't know what they rolled. The roller needs to log that information somewhere for you to see it. Just cause you and them are on the same page at the same time doesn't mean you see what they do.

DM/Graphic Designer with too much time on his hands...

Awesome! I've oft thought of doing exactly that type of setup as you have a lot of flexibility with the minis. But alas, my autis..., er artistic, ability is sorely lacking. Not to mention trying to find the art to use in the first place. So I tend to make do with Lego instead.

Why do they keep on dying?!

It seems that the party is very much stuck. Or at least the players, and may haps the GM. It matters not if you think you are old school, new school, or not in school - the name of the game is just that, to game. It's an entertainment. And from the sounds of it, you have fallen from the...

Using XP Charts to Assist Balancing Classes

This. In the before time, there was no "Challenge Rating". The closest you got was to use the HD of the monsters compared to the Level of the PCs. With the system as it sits with 3rd Edition and beyond, there is an assumption that a party is close in levels so that the CR will work properly...

Discouraging the 15 minute adventuring day

Characters, or Players, can't be made to care - in which, yes, the story may go out the window then. Attaching a penalty simply means that these types of players will wait it out. They will sit by until either the penalty goes away, or the issue which caused it has passed - as for them, the...

Discouraging the 15 minute adventuring day

I think you are way overthinking this (as are a lot of people). The game has certain assumptions regarding how a character "recharges" and what is expected for rest periods. If you just add in a bunch of extra fiddly bits, you are changing those assumptions - and really, for nothing more than...

    So You're a PC building a castle

If you have halflings or dwarves about, you will most likely also want to build a brewery. Then again, you may want that regardless.

    Your worst dry spell

Hmmm... I've had a couple of spells. I'd gamed pretty regularly during junior high- and high-school (the late seventies and early eighties) and then went off to the military. With various schools and high turnover rates of peeps, gaming never really happened until you got out to your real...

    Powering up Cursed items

I'm not sure that this falls into the category of what is being looked for, but may haps... Mechanically, speaking within the confines of D & D, a cursed item is generally all bad, or has a serious hang-up (exceptions are out there though). Similarly, a beneficial magic item has all bonuses...

1001 minor traits for magic swords

    26) Light: Upon command, the sword will give off a soft glow equivilant to that of a torch, lasting up to an hour. 27) Bane's Warning: The sword is keyed to a particular type of foe. Whenever that type of foe is within 60' of the sword, the sword glows green/blue/whatever. 28)...

    PC Lairs

This. Players run the gamut. Some think it'd be neat to run a tavern or inn, while others want to keep on moving. Thus, for those that want a base of operations, lair items, or items that focus outside of combat, will be of much more use than for those who are always on the go.

    Damage Variant

I've looked at the role of armor a few times in the past, and in so doing did some research. One of the most telling things I found was a short series on The History Channel, of which I can't recall the name anymore, where a medieval arms expert sought to enlighten the modern world on how...

    I really need DM advice!

Everyone starts out somewhere, and it's the support and practice you get from that point that helps make one a better DM. To that end, as everyone else has mentioned, talk. Tell the new DM that if he has questions or issues, he should ask - just as you should be willing to help his game along...
