    Conventions still worth it?

I'll echo similar sentiments - if you only ever go to a single convention just to see what it's all about - go to GenCon. While local and smaller conventions can sometimes focus on a small sub-set of games, or even be rather particular in what they host (due to local resources), GenCon is the...

    The 2nd best fighter...

Um... Really, why does it matter which is the "king of combat"? Shouldn't you play the character you want to play? When all is said and done, each style can do things the other can not, and vice versa. There are strengths and areas they both excel, and both have areas they suffer for that...

Be honest: Is this feat a little strong?

Um... What is it that you are actually trying to accomplish with this? As it stands, you are duplicating a feat that already exists (the saving throw bump feats), but adding another benefit. If you want a big bump type single use save, look at all the different Channeling feats already in...

Be honest: Is this feat a little strong?

It's too strong. Consider that you have to burn three feats (Iron Will, Lighting Reflexes, and Great Fortitude) to get +2 across the board. The rule of thumb, one feat grants +2 to one save. If you want to allow for a "one time" saving throw bump, consider making the feat expend a "channel...

Review of the New Online Version of Monster Builder by WotC

With the continued movement of their tools to on-line only, and WotC's inability to actually make their on-line presence work, I have to say that issues like this are why having jumped the WotC ship, I've never looked back.

    ... you can't remember your character's name.

    Asgardian Campaign - Planning Stages

Just a real quick thought - why have all the Valkyrie fallen? If Loki is doing all this to hedge his bets, which is understandable for him, how would he have had the ability to suddenly warp all of the Valkyrie into a dark image of their former selves? From a player side of things, if...

    Skill bonus items

Sorry, I forgot about Masterwork items as noted... (Being at work does have its disadvantages.) And too, I agree wholeheartedly about the issues with the pricing of skill bonuses in the magic system. It really feels like an after though, or that, yes, skills are not as important as other...

Plus one to all skills feat. Does one exist?

Yeah, no feats give ranks - they only give bonuses or ability to use (like "Jack of all Trades" does not give ranks, it allows one to use skills that are otherwise untrained). I agree with the prior statements, you are just going to have to use skill points and spend them to get the ranks you...

    Skill bonus items

Ditto. Use the magic item crafting rules and craft what you need. Need a wee bonus on opening that lock, +2 or +4 Magic Thieves Tools, need a ginormous bonus, +8 or +10 Magic Thieves Tools; need ya some bonuses when forging that armor, a +X Magic Smith's Hammer; need a bonus when making your...

    Dungeon Master’s Keep - $150 GM Screen?

I saw that Hammerdog screen out there and it instantly struck me as utile across so many differing systems - given how you can just change your inserts as you wished. I just need to remember that its there and order myself one or two... Somehow, my mental notes don't stick. As to the item at...

    Dungeon Master’s Keep - $150 GM Screen?

While I almost would consider buying one, that price tag is a bit steep for what I can do these days. However, I do have a significant amount of Lego around that needs a project...

Not trying to threadjack here - but, ooooooh! I like that idea. Yoink.

D&D 4E Using 4e's Inherit Bonus system in pathfinder

I can see both sides of the coin, and that side in the middle - and honestly, I think it boils down to the type of game you want to run. For my part, I really want to decouple the christmas tree effect - for which, inherent bonuses would play a role. I also want to allow characters to roam...

    The DnD table??

It's the table all the way. But, in the past it has varied. In some location's I've played, we didn't have a large enough table, or one wasn't easily available, so we played on the floor or where ever was applicable. I prefer the table, or at least some sort of firm elevated surface...

At 1st level, how powerful would you say PCs are in any edition of D&D?

It's all highly variable, and it doesn't depend on the version, or system, you are using. It all boils down to the GM and the campaign. If you are running low and gritty - PCs may be ordinary; running high and uber - PCs are prolly Superhuman.

the druid who loves nature a little too much

Um... If he has to "be" with the trees each day, wouldn't he have released her a long time ago? And if not, why is he adventuring since he will have to be "with" the trees each day? I may be missing something, but I don't get this.

No Game Store In Town, Best Brick and Mortar Venue for Game Ad?

Does your burg have a Community College? If so, they often have bulletin boards too. As to your question, I would post in the order you have listed. But, I'd wait a little between each one to gauge any feedback so as to know if I needed to move on to the next locale.

Why is being "in print" important?

In a nutshell - exposure. If you are not in print then you are not on bookshelves, in brick-and-mortar stores, or in other non-electronic format. There is still a lot of the world that is not on-line in an efficient manner, or does not expect to find everything on-line. Too, there are...

Reign of the Good King Skullfrost

<deep breath> Okay, this is all going to be off the top of my head (in so far as it took me a while to try to think through this), so please bear with me. Overall, we need a monster. This foul being runs the kingdom, but has only limited real power over the affairs of state - those...
