    Equipment and Persnickety Details

Sure. It may be a week or two, and then it'd be first ideas as we all know things change when it hits the actual game. But, yah, I'll post (or link) pdfs when I get them drafted.

    Equipment and Persnickety Details

I like the index card idea, as well as the Item Cards from folks like Paizo. My only complaint with the Item Cards is that there never seems to be exactly the art/image you want for a particular item. Granted, trying to come up with a sufficient number of such cards would probably be cost...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5E and Backwards Compatibility

I have to agree, none. Given that things like ability scores are used as "skills" and "saves", there is no real way to simply pick up a prior edition character and start playing. Every prior edition, some more than others, will require redoing or conversion.

    Cloth Maps

Freezer Paper? Is that anything like wax paper? And if so, how'd the wax not melt in the printer?

    Appz. Yo.

In addition to all the other possibilities of economy, there is one very basic fact being left out by the assumptions of the OP. Not everyone has a PC nor high-speed internet access. I know plenty of people who only have a PC at work. They don't buy into the need for these machines just for...

    Appz. Yo.

These games are social affairs. Your phone is not. Neither is a tablet, nor a computer, nor any other electronic device. My table will always be a table where friends get together and socialize over a game that they all enjoy - not, sit around and text each-other. What you espouse is that...

    DM problems

If you have to "prove" that your DM is wrong, however you define that, then you really need to move on. Get rid of him because he will never learn. You and the others should play some mini-campaigns where you take turns DMing. This will allow you to learn the rules and get some experiance...

    My groups first dragon encounter/adventure.

Traps, yes. Tucker's Kobolds, no. Those are nothing more than a DM fiat tool used to hammer PCs. You can also use terrain, not just monsters, as challenges to the PCs. If I recall correctly, just moving through thick muddy swamp is akin to moving through difficult terrain. Add in natural...

The Knight card from the Deck of Many Things

In a nutshell, it sounds like your Druids want to make up for some lost stackable levels with regards to their animal companions. Personally, I see no problem with this and I'd allow it - especially since it doesn't affect any of their other druidic abilities. After all, at a certain point...

i'm a giant dork and i make dice.

Hulloooo! And while I see that you are making wooden dice, do you happen to make any of the other polyhedrals, aside from the d6?

    Stone Die Sets

While I don't own any non-plastic dice, I have oogled the stone and metal dice from time to time... And, if you are still looking for them, the only vendor I know of is Crystal Caste (their Dwarven Dice line). Of course, you may have luck finding some at a good sized convention, like Gen Con...

    Cold Steel

In the real world there is a process for "cold forged steel". It just happens that the "cold iron" in the game world shares enough name similarity that confusions such as this occur (even though they have absolutely nothing in common).

    First time GMing

Or, if you want to twist it around, the lass could have been walking in the woods and come across the goblins trying to take down a unicorn. In the ensuing scenario, the goblins could have seen her as another potential source of income and kidnapped her (ransom note to be delivered soon-ish)...

    Equipment = Move Silent Penalty?

Well, if you are concerned about the coins clanking in a "purse", I'd suggest the following: get a small dice bag, fill it up with a couple handfulls of loose change, close it tight, hang it off your belt, walk around. Does it make as much noise as you expected? Try having someone listen for...

Are you happy with your current game/edition?

I'm currently in a 3.5 game. Too, I'm putting together my houserules and campaign for Pathfinder. And, I am quite happy with my game of choice. You may wonder why I said I'm happy, yet I have houserules. It's more that I want to model specific things in my campaign, not that the rules are...

    [March] What are you watching?

Project Runway and Inkmaster. That's pretty much it.

Why did you stay with an earlier edition?

I went with rules and DDI. I did not like 4th edition at all, so I stuck with 3.x. I also didn't like how the whole DDI thing was handled/managed. And if the next edition requires some sort of DDI just to play the game, then I will be skipping the next edition too. However, in fairness, I...

    D&D 5E (2014) I hope this isn't 5E...(art that screams "not this, not this!")

Ya know, I like most of all of it. Sure, some of it's wonky, but all in all, all the art evokes the time it was created (in some way) or the style that can be had with the game. It all works for me.

    Cast at lower DC

If I were GMing, I'd allow it, even though there are zero rules for it. But, I'd tweak the saving throw a little. For instance, if you wanted to cast that illusion with a DC of 1, I'd say "Sure, go ahead." Then when the bad guys showed up, if they beat the save by, say, 5 or more, I'd clue...

    Special Food Items

Ooooo! I love the idea of magical foods. It allows for so much extra flavor. [big stoooopid grin] But seriously, it goes a long way to adding those special touches that make a campaign or adventure stand out. With that said, you wouldn't happen to want to share your 3e version of that chef...
