If you don't introduce squares. And you lose the fine control of "push" effects, that squares and round-based combat offers you. And proper collision control is *hard* - but I think to be successful, a game must be square-less, unless you make it a very tactical game, akin to Jagged...
Actually, it's the same in German - or was, right now, it's all the range to use English words nonsensically.
I mean... we call a mobile "handy" in German... for no other reason that it looks and sounds English.
Cheers, LT.
So... more good adventures are going to be planned? More RP-heavy adventures? That would change the perception a lot, I assume (esp. as KotS was pretty "dungeon-crawly" for an introductory adventure and sure tinted the perception).
Very cool! Happy to hear that!
Cheers, LT.
Right now? No.
But coming from Brian R. James, it is one of the best things you can get, besides Ed Greenwood's word.
I mean he has compiled the GHotR and his FR stuff for Dragon was always excellent - he's definitively a FR expert, buff and fan.
In other words: In absence of any...
On the WotC boards, somebody compiled a list of alternative descriptions of the wizard's at-wills - by varying them, the wizard can have the flavour of knowing more spells than he actually does (e.g. a Bigby-style hand flings your opponent away, then you drop your shield spell, pushing somebody...
By the way, I really have the feeling that 4E is hitting its stride right now, between PHBII, the new MM and the other flavour material also floating around.
The mechanics in PHB2 (and also in the preview of AP and MM2 now) have reached a nice balance between easy to grasp and interesting (the...
They're useful - but if I fix PCs for "just-make-it-work" friends, I like Opera, because the extensions sometimes end messed up after an update (of either the extension or firefox).
Most of the time, they don't really see the full use of the extensions anyway and Opera is a bit sleeker and...
According to the WotC-board-thread, it's only for moving.
But that's giving a really nice combo: Get the Oncoming Storm feat from PHB2, plant Storm Pillars (lightning damage) and throw them in with Thunderwave (thunder damage and hence benefits from Oncoming Storm!). That's one neat, compact...
Really short description of what they are approximately doing (nothing too specific, just like "area effect with slide" or "single target with some attack penalty" or something like that)?
Cheers, LT.
That's the delicious irony - they sacrificed the print magazine audience in favour of an internet-based audience - and for this audience, pulling the PDFs hits much, much closer home (of course, that may be the reason why they're hunting pirates now - because of the presumeably larger internet...
Same here - and here in Europe, old Planescape books are a wee bit harder to get, so PDFs were an easy and useful format. Especially if you're not using them but just reading for the fluff.
For 4E... I don't care, because I prefer printed books anyway.
Cheers, LT.
Well, the core book sales and PHB2 sales seemed pretty good, considering the reprint rates and amazon ranks (and problems).
However, I think it's very possible that they had less than expected PDF sales - meaning their e-department isn't reporting enough, hence the blame on piracy. That would...
I see. Well, crap, but thanks for stepping in and informing us. :(
That's all weird... I mean, pulling the plug on past PDFs won't put the genie back into the bottle (in a way, it makes piracy the *only* way to get these PDFs and they're out there already) and the DDI is very PDF-heavy anyway...
Isn't that sort of unreasonable, considering that there other new big thing is the DDI which uses PDFs very liberally? Sounds schizophrenic.
Personally, I rather hope that that's some sort of initiative to tie it into the overall DDI scheme. Consolidating their stuff was done before - right...
Yep. Definitely try IE8, it's not bad and seems to be okay-ish, especially if you try to keep to the IE family.
You should try Opera, because I think it's the sleekest and best working browser for people who just want to browse the web. Plus: IE7+ take a lot of cues from the overal UI from the...
The main problem is that they eat up design space, forcing certain combinations, like gnome <-> illusion (see Gnome Phantasmist), while others feel tacked on and one doesn't really see the connection (like Cursed Advantage).
The racial feats improving the race's main abilities to work better...
Yep, I just think the name "arcane fire" is a bit confusing - whereas the lightning/thunder feat "oncoming storm" was a pretty good fit.
The feats from the preview look good, I'm just a bit wary of the number of race-dependent choices. While I don't mind the idea, I sometimes have the feeling...
The problem is that V never wanted the power to help the OotS, he uses as an excuse, as a rationalisation, why he clings to the power. He's totally going down the "the road to hell is paved with good intentions"-path.
Cheers, LT.
