    Forge of Fury: Deathtrap? (spoilers)

I ran it early in 3.0, and it was a learning experience for everyone. The players as you represent them would I suspect do well with exactly what you are already doing: Stomp them with good tactics if they use bad (where appropriate, puddings shouldn't flank for instance), and talk with them...

    LARPs?

I find that in my area at least, a lot of people equate LARP with Mind's Eye Theatre, the system used by White Wolf for their World of Darkness LARPs. This is not the case. MET is just one example (and a pretty poor one system wise IMO) of the types of LARPs out there, which include...

The Mésalliance. Part 1. (Updated 4/18.)

I assumed that Nehael was the protégée. I could easily be wrong though. --Seule

An Epic Game in Progress (my players avoid) New Request: 03/31/04

It sounds like the Celestials aren't so much becoming neutral as no longer following their deities. They can still remain good while leaving the service of the standard deities, but it may well lose them many of their powers... unless they can find another deity (Ralishaz?) who will 'fund'...

An Epic Game in Progress (my players avoid) New Request: 03/31/04

I'd have some moderately powerful undead guardians that the cleric can simply dismiss. Firstly it uses up actions where he's not doing other things, and secondly it lets him use his class powers, and it's always important to let the players do what they do best... and even make it necessary for...

where do you get your RPG books?

I get the majority of my gaming books from any of 5 local gaming stores (local being within an hour drive), but I also buy from the big bookstore, the big online store, and from retailers at conventions. Whatever's most convenient. I do prefer to support gaming stores though, thus the majority...

Advice for a newbie to GenCon?

I was at Origins last year and am going to GenCon this year (both with my wife). Can anyone give me advice on what's different? I know at origins I was glad to have half my slots off, and I plan to do the same at gencon, as suggested above, is there any other good advice people can offer...

    Defenders of Daybreak OT thread

They already can, it's just that DeBeers (the diamond monopoly people) are trying as hard as possible to squash them. I've seen some scary stuff on the Internet about it. When someone came up with a process for creating diamonds under pressure that have very slightly different chemical signature...

    Favorite Barbarian PrC

I'm a fan of the Bear Warrior myself, and it leads into at least one of the Shapeshifting PrCs in the Complete Warrior. On the other hand, the Frenzied Berserker can be a very interesting challenge for a group, you have to run combats very differently when your main fighter may not stop fighting...

Do the Non-US Players and DMs use the metric system?

Also an arbitrary scale (although the start and end points aren't), the main difference is that it has a REALLY large installed user base, i.e. almost everyone. I have no problem with metric time as a concept (look it up, it makes sense), but switching to it would be... unpleasant. --Seule

[Exp.Psionics] New issue of Dragon reveals info. (Now corrected by Bruce C.)

I strongly suspect that there will be a class that uses Wisdom, it makes the most sense for Psionics in my opinion. Inner discipline and all that. Of course, I like all stats being used, but I'm coming to accept the Int Psion. --Seule

Do the Non-US Players and DMs use the metric system?

And Kelvin takes the size of the degrees from Celsius, thus proving it to be the superior system... it's got subsystems (Kelvin)! Anyway. This is all very far from game. We use degrees F in D&D, but it's the one Imperialism that isn't at all intuitive. I can estimate about what a distance...

    Expanded Psionics Handbook

It looks like psychic combat is out, as Mind Thrust is given as an example power... one which does 2d10 damage for 3 power points no less. The speculation is that that is non-lethal damage, and further speculation is that the power is 1st level, 1d10 damage, with an extra 1d10 per extra power...

Do the Non-US Players and DMs use the metric system?

I do find Fahrenheit amusing... basically, it's two arbitrary numbers, and an arbitrary scale between them. My understanding is that 0 fahrenheit is the coldest the inventor could get ice to go by adding salt, and 100 was Mrs. Fahrenheit's body temperature (seems she was hot-blooded). Celsius...

Do the Non-US Players and DMs use the metric system?

I believe that an explanation was retrofitted into the movie universe so that the comment would make sense: The Kessel run slingshots around a black hole, and the faster your ship the closer you can afford to get, so if you have a fast ship you cover less distance. It only barely makes sense...

[Exp.Psionics] New issue of Dragon reveals info. (Now corrected by Bruce C.)

I believe it's in an email from Bruce that someone quoted on the WotC boards. It may be faked, but it's unlikely, as the hoax would be revealed pretty soon anyway. --Seule

Your experience with RPGA events..good or not so good?

I joined the RPGA shortly before 3rd edition came in, and I've played in several campaigns. Most of my RPGA energy has gone into Living Greyhawk, trying to get my region (Ket) more active. Last friday I started a biweekly Living Greyhawk game, specifically aimed at new players, to try to give...

Specialist mages, have they lost feeling

At high levels, an extra spell per level doesn't make much difference, as you simply have so many. However, at low to mid levels, that extra spell of each level can be critical. To take the extreme case, a specialist have half as many spells again over the generalist at first level, and that's...

Which of these sterotypical PCs have appeared the most in your campaigns?

The only one I've seen played (and played myself, too) from your list is the Elven Archer. That's because unlike all the other ones you list, there's no personality attached to your 'stereotype' here. I played one as a complete paranoid, and I've seen them played with various personalities...

    Manyshot Question

The primary use for it that I've seen (and there is an archer with it in the game I run) is for use in surprise rounds, and if you have to move to have a clear line of fire. Basically, whenever you are only getting a single attack ayway, you might as well make it a Manyshot. --Seule
