How Much Would a Castle Cost?

Which are literally from BECMI D&D. The whole economic system is lifted from it.

Pathfinder 1E Creating an OGC "great wheel" setting for Pathfinder?

That's quite impressive, but I'm afraid it might be too close to the original.

Other than the two Mongoose Fantasy Heroes/Heroines collections, were there any art collections released as OGL?

    D&D 5E (2014) Necromancer Games - 3 5E books announced!

Presumably it's good for 5e fans, but judging based on the poor quality of their S&W conversions of Pathfinder products, I don't think it bodes well for Pathfinder/S&W fans, since they will end up getting inferior products (at the same price).

Mad Monks of Kwantoom (Kabuki Kaiser 2014)

Although D&D is generally set in a generic Western European fantasy world, a good deal of Asian influence has slipped in since the early days. The Monk appearing in OD&D and articles in the Dragon about the Ninja and Samurai This is largely due to the popularity of martial arts and sword...

DM1 The Secret of Eberon's Manor (2013 New Realms Publishing)

DM1 The Secret of Eberon's Manor is an adventure module for Labyrinth Lord from New Realms Publishing (available in PDF form from the usual place). It's a small beginner level adventure written and apparently illustrated by the same person, mysteriously named "J". It's essentially a site based...

Adventurer Conqueror King System Player's Companion (Autarch 2012)

The Player's Companion is the first sourcebook for the Adventure Conqueror King System, or ACKS. While technically a complete RPG, ACKS was a fairly slim book, so there weren't a lot of options for characters beyond the usual. The Player's Companion goes a long while to addressing those lack of...

Adventurer Conqueror King System (OSR game from Autarch, 2012)

I was one of those people who backed the Dwimmermount kickstarter, which has had something of a rough ride (though not as much as some others). As a way of apologizing for the problems (which weren't of their own making), Autarch gave out $10 off coupons for their products, which let me pick up...

Arrows of Indra (Old School RPG set in Mythic India, 2013 Bedrock Games)

Arrows of Indra is an old school renaissance (OSR) game set in Mythic India. OSR games essentially mimic the pre-3.0 D&D rules with fairly minor variations, and are generally more akin to house rules than anything else. If you know old school D&D, Arrows of Indra is probably closest to...

WotC D&D Brand Content - What can be used?

He's thinking about a Kickstarter, so it's not just home use. Anyway, OP, the premise behind retro-clones is that you can't copyright mechanics, only specific wordings of them. So as long as you re-write things in your own words and don't use the same proper names, it should be okay. So you...

Liberation of the Demon Slayer (Adventure Module by Venger As’Nas Satanis, 2013)

Liberation of the Demon Slayer (Adventure Module by Venger As’Nas Satanis, 2013) One of the more amusing things about OSR gaming is that seemingly there are more new rules sets than adventure modules. Thankfully, a few people are making adventure modules, some for specific gaming systems, but...

    "Branded" Fan Reviews

While I guess not spam, when you seem a whole bunch of reviews featuring the "brand" name, not the name of the product itself, it looks rather spammy (and makes my eyes glaze over). Especially as you can see who started the thread. It would be nice if there were a standard format for the...

Advanced Adventures #22 Stonepick Crossing (Expeditious Retreat Press for OSRIC/1E)

Ever since the release of B2 Keep on the Borderlands, many low level modules have taken the basic premise of describing a small fort or town and then a nearby adventuring locale. Stonepick Crossing, an OSRIC module by Mark Morrison and from Expeditious Retreat Press, condenses this, by...

How do you handle Experience Points?

I think a lot depends on what sort of game you are running. If XP is mostly combat based, you'll get a lot of combat. Many people like combat, so it makes sense for those games. If it's more exploration based (like treasure for XP), you'll get more of exploration, less combat, since fights...

Are we, as a wider community, nasty?

This exactly. I pretty much quit this place (helped along by a temporary ban, I might add) for the entire 4e era, because of all the fighting during the whole 4e/Pathfinder run up phase (announcement to release). This place is a lot better now, but let's not pretend it was above edition wars...
