Once it gets to about 12th level, bad luck always happens.
Plus, the party can never remember all those toys that they get (spells, magic items), so they forget at key points.
We used to play at noon.
The older we've gotten, the later it got. First 1:00, then 3:00, then 5:00 and lately 7:00.
I'm starting a new group and we have made the start time 1:00pm :crosses fingers:
I do it exactly that same way too. Makes it interesting when someone (who rolled 900+) makes a level after the 1st session vs someone (who rolled 100+). The lower person will add more backstory and rp possibilities for xp gain (I give rp bonuses)
