Monks & the Improved Natural Attack Feat

The name of the source was provided in his post. The actual text itself was provided here also: once when you asked for it, and once before that. How was this not to your liking?

    Monks and AC

I've done some heavy comparisons (and played both): a dex-based build is typically much better than a str-based one. With things like permanent magic fang +5 (9k gp), monk's belt, improved natural attack, etc., a finesse monk can do more damage than he really needs to (4d8+5 per flurry hit...

    Whip that horse...

From the rules: "A creature with no Constitution cannot tire and thus can run indefinitely without tiring (unless the creature’s description says it cannot run)."

    Useless items?

They provide more of a role-playing benefit rather than a mechanical benefit. Same with things like good meals or lodging. The section can safely be ignored by most players... even the weight doesn't matter (unless you carry extra clothing in your backpack) because the clothing you are wearing...

Monks & the Improved Natural Attack Feat

It was given earlier. The 3.5 FAQ says: "a monk’s unarmed strike “is treated as both a manufactured weapon and a natural weapon for the purpose of spells and effects that enhance or improve either” which includes feats such as Improved Natural Attack."

Monks & the Improved Natural Attack Feat

Best to ask your DM. The 3.5 FAQ (if desired) says: "Can a monk take Improved Natural Attack (Monster Manual, page 304) to improve his unarmed strike? Yes. As stated on page 41 of the Player’s Handbook, a monk’s unarmed strike “is treated as both a manufactured weapon and a natural weapon for...

Can a monk flurry in a grapple?

Well said. That was evidently corrected (here) on 03/20/2007. Still, it was good to know how some of the original authors thought grapple worked. I'm guessing it was merely a quirk of fate that the current (less intuitive) method was adopted.

    XP calculation

As a DM, I either: 1) Don't set up such encounters, or 2) Handle any such encounters as fluff text (i.e. just assume that the PC's win and not spend valuable game time dealing with it).

Can a monk flurry in a grapple?

Yup (and thank you for elaborating).

Can a monk flurry in a grapple?

He probably wouldn't be too happy to learn that the meaning of flat-footed (which has always been misused by various WotC authors) was similarly misused in the Rules Compendium, making it now technically official (because WotC has stated that the RC overrules everything else).

Can a monk flurry in a grapple?

As mentioned, the perceived difference between the two might not be intended by the authors. (i.e. the Rules of the Game: Unarmed Attacks - Part One (if desired) states "Unarmed Attack/Unarmed Strike: These two terms are used interchangeably")

    Building a *Weaker* Dragon

As mentioned, leaving her at CR13 just seems much easier but... A dragon increases 1 CR per 2 HD, so giving her two negative levels (i.e. Energy Drained) should be a quick/easy way to bring down by a CR.

Can a monk flurry in a grapple?

Yup. Even the FAQ and RotG tend to stay away from this one. Best to ask your DM. However, the 3.5 FAQ (if desired) does say: "Can a monk make disarm, sunder, and trip attacks during her flurry of blows? What about grapple checks? What about bull rushes, overruns, or other special combat...

    Aspect of Tiamat attack rules....help!!!

It does not get this ability unless its write-up says so... and I seem to recall that it doesn't. It would be treated more like a chimera (or for that matter, any other multi-headed creature that doesn't specifically state an exception in its write-up). Depending on the resource you are using...

    Lack of tactics..

Having them fight a (lower level) group of adventurers (that use good tactics), might help. Basically, they just might not be interested in tactics. If possible, find at least one player that is interested in tactics and have him provide tips to the others during play.

    Psychic Warrior: Worth it?

I had good luck using it to create a trip/grapple build with Half-giant, Expansion and Grip of Iron (which lent itself to the vow of non-violence). The class also transitions nicely into the warmind prestige class. Also, Call Weaponry allowed for this spiked-chain tripper to take vow of poverty.

    Mixing ranged and melee attacks?

However the writer's intent (shown in the RotG, FAQ, etc.) was different. Again, this was important to some.

    Mixing ranged and melee attacks?

You previously viewed sunder similarly. Illuminating writer's intent may not be important to you, but it could be for others.
