Star Wars Saga Edition [SECR] Preview #3 is Up

We will see. Let's just say that I hope you are right. I'm also curious how complicated it will be to keep track of all those talents and feats.

Star Wars Saga Edition [SECR] Preview #3 is Up

Good grief. The difference is that small it's hardly noticeable (where's this  smiley when you need it?). Did they say anything regarding the difference in level and CL in the Jensaarai Defender writeup? I already see myself taking a pencil and going through that book correcting...

Star Wars Saga Edition [SECR] Preview #3 is Up

It's not that bad when you can use nearly all skills untrained, anyway. I guess this is one of the "fits the films" moments. Even unarmored chars have a chance to live through a firefight.

D&D 4E Star Wars Saga Edition as preview of 4e?

It's apples and oranges. Mechanically, they do something different. Given a moderate bonus and a moderate DC, the reroll will give you a better advantage. Given a moderate bonus and a high DC, the bonus will give you a better advantage; it will even allow you to beat higher DCs, unlike a reroll...

D&D 4E Star Wars Saga Edition as preview of 4e?

Perhaps, you are just a busy guy. Or neither an accountant nor a programmer who enjoys juggling with some "easy numbers" in his spare time ;).

D&D 4E Star Wars Saga Edition as preview of 4e?

Rerolls are not the same as boni. They work in a slightly different way. And someone suggested just to take two dice in the same roll, which would save time. At least for 'yes or no' type rolls, that's a valid alternative.

What 3rd party d20 rpg's/settings are currently in development

It was probably not worth the cost for the two guys who had been posting there occasionally. They can probably take the phone once a month. Don't get me wrong: I like the setting, but the forum was mostly dead, anyway.

    Star Wars to Star Wars

Does it have buckets of dice? No? There's your answer ;).

D&D 4E Star Wars Saga Edition as preview of 4e?

The prices for some of the WotC Star Wars books on Ebay were ridiculous. It's unfortunate I didn't have any of those for sale. I'm also in the "d20 Star Wars was a big success" camp. All signs speak for this option.

D&D 4E Star Wars Saga Edition as preview of 4e?

I experience this problem with my best friends. They are complete gaming nuts, but they refuse to play D&D. They actually liked the game very much, but they don't want to cope with the overhead. They want to play the game, not spend hours pouring through options. For them, a simpler alternative...

Star Wars Saga Edition [SECR] Preview #2 is Up

Looks good, although I don't like "half the character level" rules. The other point that I didn't like is initiative as skill. I hate "must take" skills.

D&D 4E Star Wars Saga Edition as preview of 4e?

Both. The new book is shorter, because they didn't need to explain that much. Which was one of the goals of the new edition. That's okay. It's a fruitless discussion because most people on this board are completely off target regarding considerations like this. Sure. But the player base is...

D&D 4E Star Wars Saga Edition as preview of 4e?

Sure. But that's just wordplay, because SWSA's goal is reduced complexity. If you ask whether SWSA is a test-bed for 4e, it's implied that you ask whether D&D 4e will be streamlined as well. If you only understand the question as to whether single mechanics may be tested for 4e, that's a...

    The Domains of Althios?

That's right. Nevertheless, the characterization is usually that vague that the adventures are easily transferable. "A Mage's Tale" is the exception among the publications I have, because it's mostly about the city of Vundara, it's people and game mechanics, and only a few short adventure...

D&D 4E Star Wars Saga Edition as preview of 4e?

I'm not sure whether a complexity debate derails this thread. To me, it fits the bill quite well. What else do you see behind the title question? Even if you are most probably right with your assessment of the current fanbase, I think that the makers of D&D might try to address a new generation...

Wait, so 7/8/9th level spells weren't in OD&D?

I take it you prefer your magic realistic then?

    The Domains of Althios?

Are you one of the three people who bought their adventures :D? I'm not aware of any Althios map. The four adventures that I have (A Green Place to Die, The Succubus Bride, The Plague of Nyrathoth, A Mage's Tale) don't contain any complete map. The maps look more like pieces that can be...

Star Wars Saga Edition [SECR] Preview #1 is Up

That previews looks pretty cool. I'm not too keen on the talent tree for the sentinel though. But I guess that there will be other ones available that are not so focused on the light vs. dark side aspect.
