    Star Wars Naming Game

Inggr Pldor, Nnatau of Clindamycin. Not really.

    PHB2 vs. Arcana Evolved

I like the concept of an athame. A weapon that grows with your character (like in Weapons of Legacy) and that you develop an inner bond with and can summon at will? I think that's a rather strong concept for a class, even if a bit narrow. I think it's here where our opinions fundamentally...

    PDFs: Why are people anti-watermark?

Heh, that's a good summary :). I don't like watermarks that show up on the printouts. I don't mind them if they vanish when I set the printer to 100% (i.e., not adjusting the page size to the physical printing range of my printer), like with the AE pdf.

    PHB2 vs. Arcana Evolved

I don't know your personal issues with D&D that you want to have addressed. As I said, it were the issues of the majority of posters in that survey. Of course, I don't mind if you disagree with the solutions. You're talking about your game, after all. Yes, it's valid to discuss the setting in...

    PHB2 vs. Arcana Evolved

Heh, sounds a bit unwieldy, though. Usually, an AE class should get full caster level progression over all spellcaster levels; one thing I like about them. I think you are not alone here. The Oathsworn is generally seen with contempt. Some of the Witch variants should also be left to NPCs.

    PHB2 vs. Arcana Evolved

What looks like "reinventing the wheel" was the result of a long-going survey among 3E players. People were asked what they didn't like about 3E, and the result were things like the arcane/divine divide, the inflexible magic system, the marriage of healing ability to the cleric class or that it...

Some Monte Cook and Arcana Evolved Questions

Pretty much so. The release note claimed February 28.

    Not Reading Ryan Dancy

See, and I was trying to figure out why you go to a dentist when you have diarrhea. There you go :). Fiscal, perhaps?

    Not Reading Ryan Dancy

Well, I didn't say "the sky is crashing to the ground". He's extrapolating from the happenings of the last two to three years, with vanishing (or migrating) companies and only miniature-oriented games with comparably simple rules doing well.

    Not Reading Ryan Dancy

I suspect it's your computer or your browser. The blog looks fine. As to the blog, it just translates to "The sky is falling". It's basically an extrapolation of what happened in 2006.

    [d6 Star Wars] Inspirational supplements?

Thanks for the tips. And I found out that the journal was named Star Wars Adventure Journal.

    [d6 Star Wars] Inspirational supplements?

I actually like the d20 Star Wars rules, including some of the Jedi Counseling changes. I'm curious how the new rules coming out in May will be. And thanks for the suggestions :). Btw, I'm mostly interested in books that don't deal directly with the film conflict. I'm pretty sure I won't use...

Never heard of that one. Is this based on some comic or novel?

    [d6 Star Wars] Inspirational supplements?

They had that at the shop. Completely soaked in coke and dried afterwards. For $8 :\. But I should probably look out for a different source.

    [d6 Star Wars] Inspirational supplements?

I haven't owned any d6 SW books so far, but yesterday night I saw a copy of Platt's Starport Guide in a second hand bookstore. It looked like fresh from the printer, and the great illustrations made me buy it. Upon reading, I found that it was a very inspirational source that nicely circumvented...

So, what was the first product where D&D's soul was sold?

I don't think that there is any such general agreement. Given that most products are written by fans of the game, I think you will still find the genuine will to enrich the game in products, even today. Of course, there is also the aspect that authors and company want to live and need to make...

    Dearth of Creativity?

As compared to "Honey, let's read the "Mysteries of Arena" together this afternoon. Wouldn't that be great :)?"? Well, I hope I understand what you said, but I think I do :D. It's the way of the grognard. Probably not the worst way at all :).

What game best captures "D&D" for you?

I don't know the older versions of D&D. But for me, the differences between D&D3.5 and AD&D2e are negligible compared to their similarities, especially if I include other games in the comparison. So I'd probably go with the "all of the above".

What's the fun in that? Then I would not need to buy anything new till the end of my days.

    Dearth of Creativity?

"dearth c.1250, derthe "scarcity," abstract n. formed from root of O.E. deore "precious, costly" (see dear). Originally used of famines, when food was costly because scarce." I'm not good with slang from 1250, either ;). My general feeling is one of saturation. Most relevant topics are done...
