What weapons are safest for the fumble prone?

My friend found a way around this. It's simple, you just use a brilliant weapon. The not-so-simple part is getting your character raised as an intelligent undead...

Acid Splash: Get Out of Jail Free?

I do think it's interesting that Pathfinder removed the text about acid, but it's still not totally clear. The actual situation was not a prison, it was a room with iron bars on the window that was locked and set on fire. But in general I don't think a spell that reads "Casting time: 1 hour...

Acid Splash: Get Out of Jail Free?

Can a wizard with infinite cantrip Acid Splash use it to slowly melt through the bars of his cell, 1d3 hit points at a time? Heck, can he go through the stone floor and then start creating a tunnel? Or do you rule that hardness applies to the damage?

What weapons are safest for the fumble prone?

    #1, that's very creative; #2, you've finally created a combat-effective gnome.

How much damage can I take by running headfirst into a wall?

Yeah, I just wanted to know how much damage can I take before I pass out from hitting my head too hard, and all these answers like "the same as a club" and "1d6" just have me hitting myself on the head with various weapons and dice for comparison purposes. I can tell you if it's going to hurt...

How much damage can I take by running headfirst into a wall?

The only problem is the module's requirement of 10 bludgeoning damage (it says "the victim receives an equal amount of damage from each successful attack on the mud"). This is a level 7 adventure so 10 hp is a quarter of your hit points, more than a headache. Perhaps I should lower it to 5 so...

What weapons are safest for the fumble prone?

After hearing a story of someone chopping his arm off while trying to scrape green slime with an axe, it made me think: in a world with critical fumble tables, I would never wield a weapon that could chop off bits of me, get stuck in the scenery, or travel through time and assassinate Lincoln...

How much damage can I take by running headfirst into a wall?

Due to a mixup between an earth elemental and a water elemental, it's possible for adventurers in Castle Whiterock to get their head completely encased in hardened mud. It requires 10 points of bludgeoning damage to break off, but I thought "someone is going to be more creative than just...

What ability should replace level drain? Here's a list.

Wish I could merge Reddit and Enworld so I could see the best posts in that without having to chug through the entire thread. Five negative levels doesn't kill you, though. The lethality of Con loss is what's keeping me from accepting the ability drain suggestions. Maybe I could merge...

What ability should replace level drain? Here's a list.

There are 30 abilities here that you can give your undead as a replacement for the very unfun level drain. But I don't want to basically create new monsters with different powers and call them spectres. I want to pick just one ability that replaces level drain on all undead, that has the same...

What is fun about illusions? Fooling the players or the PCs?

In the end, I'm gonna run the room like this: the PCs open the door and see a pit fiend with its back to them, with several bone devils in the middle of the room worshiping it, plus all the mirrors showing more bone devils, giving kind of a cybdem_boh.gif effect. See what the PCs do when they...

What is fun about illusions? Fooling the players or the PCs?

I go both ways because the quote button quotes the whole post instead of quoting selected, and I usually post in short threads where I read all new posts instead of just those replying to me, but I can see your point. The mirrors are kind of a mess. For one, bone devils have invisibility if it...

What is fun about illusions? Fooling the players or the PCs?

As far as I can tell, it's just "hey a bone devil has major image on its spell list, let's see what happens." With a little work you could get the PCs expecting a pit fiend (this is a dimensional prison for creatures that crossed the pit fiend Bazgorca, and they might spy him through observing...

What is fun about illusions? Fooling the players or the PCs?

The XP feature isn't working for me in IE or Firefox right now. So, you think it's important to have illusions that fool the players and fool all of them, so there's no save. But the question is, what's fun about that? I guess it's the fact that the players might figure it out, if they send...

What is fun about illusions? Fooling the players or the PCs?

Are illusions ever fun for a DM to use? This question was prompted by Goodman Games' DCC #40, Devil in the Mists, where a bone devil opens with an illusion of a pit fiend. I was gleefully planning to get a pit fiend mini and look up the abilities of pit fiends so my illusion would be realistic...

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder Stealth Skill Playtest

What I was trying to say was that if the benefit of hiding is weaker (you're not "invisible," only "hidden") then hiding itself can be stronger. For example, a magic item that lets you hide at will can be 50% cheaper because it doesn't also give you total concealment's 50% miss chance.

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder Stealth Skill Playtest

I still have no idea what the new rules are trying to say. I wish they could all be as intuitive and easy to get as the "hidden" condition. Although I'd still like to know why there's a hidden condition -- is it so they can make hiding stronger? I think they should first post what they're...

    Shocker lizards - standard actions?

Oh, and I forgot to ask: That affects all creatures within the 20-foot radius, right?

    Shocker lizards - standard actions?

I like that a lot, because it solves all the initiative issues and allows me to narrate each successive lizard as "charging up" the lethal shock -- building drama.

    Shocker lizards - standard actions?

Must shocker lizards choose to use their standard action to use their stunning shock, or is it in addition to biting? What about the lethal shock -- is that an area effect, does it take a standard action to activate, and can each lizard activate it again if it wants to? I see in Pathfinder...
